Default Wide Receivers/Running Backs

Prices are rising (and I think it's just the beginning). Who are you investing in and who do you PC?

RB - Saquon PC, Miles Sanders
WR - N'Keal Harry PC, DJ Chark

I think the only WRs/RBs that are ‘investible’ IMO are players who make huge impacts every weekend. I’d say those players would be McCaffrey (pretty much both WR and RB), Michael Thomas, Saquon and maybe Kamara

I guess I should clarify - I mean short or long term. Prices on speculative receivers and running backs have doubled and tripled over the past few weeks already. Auden Tate had a good practice yesterday and he went bol bol and his Rookie autos got bought up immediately. I think there's a big opportunity to flip short term with receivers and backs this year. I agree though for long-term investments there are very few..

I started talking about this a few weeks ago that I thought receivers and running backs would start to rise with the upcoming fantasy football season. With the huge jump in popularity of investing in sports cards with the gamblers and shoe flippers I thought that the fantasy football players would want to also sink their teeth into this. It makes too much sense. There's more opportunities for people to make money than in fantasy and you can "draft" whoever you want.

With all that said I agree there is a lot of opportunity to flip on a lot of these guys in season. There will be lots of speculation similar to the bubble but even moreso with fantasy football culture the way it is and over reaction Mondays.

But I've been playing the long term game with this. Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Michael Thomas, Julio Jones, Ladainian Tomlinson, etc. The best fantasy players of all time. You can still get their best cards cheap compared to modern basketball players. The culture of fantasy football in this country is absolutely massive and if soccer cards are exploding based on pure speculation from a largely American buying group then what do you think can happen with fantasy football cards.

You are a smart man. Fantasy football prep is starting and you're already seeing prices double and triple on second and third year players that aren't quarterbacks. Personally I'd rather buy cards than play FanDuel .

If you think about it this is first fantasy football season since the massive spike in card popularity. I can see this being it's own thing. Fantasy football cards. Draft through cards. I haven't thought it through completely haha.

I think a lot of people will think the same way. Who wants to have the all or nothing proposition of fantasy football gambling when you can be safer with cards.

Definitely noticed a pretty big spike on a few WR autos I have.
I pulled and a Courtland Sutton /75 aqua auto from 2018 Optic when it first released. I seen a few sell on ebay for $8-12 over the next year. Now a few have gone for $50-60 recently. A few Deebos I have jumped recently too, although he is was just a rookie

I got some nice Deebo select cards this week. Lot of three one /99 and one /199 for $20. Optic autos for receivers have rocketed..

The entire market is up, doesn't matter what offensive position you play.

Always money to be made in football off the 1 week performance overreactions. The only downside is having to deal with chargebacks when they return to mediocrity.

It's a retired guy but Eli incase he makes the hall of fame and I think fans will miss him now that he is gone. Also defensive players like Mckinney

I completely disagree about defensive players. Look at Jamal Adams, one of the top safeties in the league and his cards are super cheap. Unless their name is Aaron Donald, defensive cards aren’t worth much of anything

Agreed. Defense for PC only. Will be buying plenty of Micah Parsons next year and then never again

Nick Bosa may buck the trend

I'm not see it. I've been able to pick up Fournette RC auto's for cheap, including a BGS 9.5/10 Elite #/35 for $23 including tax and shipping...and I like to keep it that way.

Bosa's are pretty people, I know a few people nterested in them for a purely aesthetics standpoint.
If I was going to invest defense 100% them.

Still a lot of money to be made with QBs but I've dabbled, much moreso with HOFers and HOF locks than speculative bets. Why take the risk on a guy like McCaffrey when I can get guys that are crazy undervalued and virtually risk free. I've seen too many guys that looked on track for the HOF have their careers decline rapidly. Even after the obvious guys are starting to heat up, there are still some HOF guys that are absolute bargains. I have made a few very small speculative plays on Micheal Gallup and Calvin Ridley. I'm also bullish on Tompa Bay, which brings me to my favorite non-QB investment of all:

Rob Gronkowski. Arguably the GOAT at his position. 3 rings. Media rockstar that will be in our lives through TV/Movies/Social for decades to come. The Shaq of football in a lot of ways TBH. If he's anywhere close to his old self (which I'm hearing he is), the media is going to fawning all over the returning legend all season long.

I have dabbled with defensive guys too, but only guys that are full on HOF positional GOATs of close to it. This play may take a bit longer to play out but I firmly believe there is no reason why some of these guys should go so cheap.

Same here, 50 2017 Prizm's for $1 each work for me.

Cards will not replace fantasy football or gambling. Sure people that were reeled into cards this year might spend some money but its too easy to enjoy FanDuel and Fantasy Football Leagues...there is no work involved aside from research.

I didn't say replace. I've shown cards to 3 of my fantasy football friends and they're all into it heavy now.
