Pretty clear at this point that Russia DID meddle in 2016, IS meddling now, and was solicited by and made contact with Trump officials as concluded by a
bipartisan panel:

All those articles do is illustrate that people were fine with race relations in this country until a Black man held the highest office in the land. That was a step too far for many. A continuation of the idea Blacks should know their place.

The Great Divide putting politics over people’s livelihood, Tweeting, again, to boycott Goodyear. His reasoning behind it might be legitimate, but the way he goes about getting his message across is not the way a leader should act. Anyone who disagrees with him who he can’t fire is a radical leftist.

Usually election meddling doesn't result in our own president (and his sons) retweeting Russian propaganda. That is until the last four years.

Prisoners are used for all kinds of slave labor in this country.

I’d call fighting fires heroic.

Forced heroics.

Too bad they aren’t even allowed to be firemen after they’ve served their time.

Yeah I understand picking up trash on highways. But fighting fires seems ridiculous for inmates. But California is weird.

There are many jobs you are denied if you have a felony on your record. None of these people are in prison for misdemeanors. It allows them the opportunity to make more money, acquire a skill set that will be attractive to an employer (maybe not all), and make something of themselves.

We argue over freedom all the time, but justice is the really tricky virtue to work out in a democracy.

Is the goal punishment? Mental or physical or financial punishment?

Is the goal reform and restoration to the community? That would seem to make re-education the primary focus.......which can get brainwashy and dystopian really quick.

Is it just simply to remove bad people from society without any real concern for what happens to them?

Should the guilty be at the mercy of the aggrieved? That's certainly the quickest to wash the State's hands of the matter, but you're going to end up with so many horror stories.

I honestly don't have many fully-developed thoughts on what justice should look like. Every argument seems to have an equally strong counter argument.

There are too many questions to answer here, though in a smoky, late night bar we might discuss them. I appreciate your intelligent input, though.
