Grading is subjective but that certainly shouldn’t be a flagship black label.

The Zion looks worse, even though BGS has stricter centering requirements. It’s close to 60/40 even though BGS should be 50/50 both ways for a 10. That’s pretty bad to put that well known a card in a black label with that centering.
I don't even see it being close to 60/40. Looks way off, maybe it's just me

I measured it as best I could give the pic quality and I was getting right around 60/40. You’d be surprised what 60/40 actually looks like if you’re used to measuring.

People cannot think for themselves. Its a troubling aspect in all of society today.

They have to be told what is good or bad, what is wrong or right.

Centering should be the least subjective part of grading though, and for bordered cards like Prizm and Donruss Optic they should honestly just do those with computer vision. No reason to give a 10 subgrade to an OC card

Centering is the one thing that is not subjective.

As long as there are tools to measure things, no ones opinion should matter.

Measure it. Its either centered or its not. There is no opinion on what a ruler says.

A few months ago I cracked a Prizm Zion PSA 9 and sent to BGS. It got a gold label 10.

That was a fun day.

How come I don't get graders like that?!?!?! The submitter was probaly praying it would get at least a 9, then Beckett answered. I would not have send that card for grading.

People also have trouble not interjecting their own nonsense into places where it doesn’t belong.

Example: A thread is made about a BGS 10 black label being off center and not warranting a BGS 10 centering grade, and then butthurt BGS fanboys post examples of PSA 10s that they feel are worse examples of centering.

As if a BGS black label or 10 centering grade is equivalent to a PSA 10. BGS black label is the best grade you can get, hence why BGS 10s and black labels fetch more than PSA 10s... because of the higher grading standard. Posting inferior PSA 10s is pointless when it’s accepted in the hobby that PSA 10 is an inferior grade. You’re accomplishing nothing other than showing the rest of the forum how obnoxious you can be.

True, but that is objectively not "10" centering.

Is it possible that there were multiple copies submitted and graded but a slip up in the holdering process put the wrong one in the 10 label?

I had a sub earlier this year with 37 of that card consecutively graded, so anything is possible.

The future for BGS:

-You buy BGS slabs to crack and send to PSA/SGC

-GMA's big brother

This goes beyong the black label, just watching how the 3 big companies are handling this crazy time, BGS is falling further and further behind. I would purchase SGC over BGS all day right now. And of course, PSA is king and is making adjustments to stay there.

When will people realize grading is trash and far from perfect?

I suspect that this is how this happens IMO

Probably going to get a letter from BGS saying that it has 50/50 centering.
