2019-20 Panini Chronicles Basketball- Pre-release Thread

Just stopped at my local WM & they just put out 25 blaster boxes of chronicles. To bad I'm completely broke till Monday. Damn it I wanna open some so bad & maybe try holding on to some to later cover the ones I break. Which I actually have some stuff to list that would sell to get the money but stuck at work dang it lol.

But ill bet by the time I get off work in 4 hours its all gone. I've never had issues getting anything Basketball product wise till this year. Every time I go its emptied every time. but the only thing I've found this year is Prizm, small amount of optic and now chronicles.

ah well you win some ya lose some. Not BKB related but they stocked up on Topps Chrome BB also.

I absolutely agree that in the Philly area most of it is going to people with inside info or supplying bribes.

I ran into the MJ Holdings vendor once at the Exton Walmart during the Mosaic release weeks, and was surprisingly the only one there. He said I caught him at an off time as he usually comes later in the day. I asked if he had any basketball, and he said an immediate "no". Based on what others were reporting that week, he should have had at least another full tray of Mosaic.

I didn't press him on it as I didn't want to bother him while he did his job, so I waited patiently for him to finish stocking. He opened all of the boxes except one that he kept on his cart. The entire time he stocked, he kept checking his phone and appeared to be texting someone. Not saying that he was outright lying, but something seemed a little off about the way he was acting. And for the past few months, that store is cleared out the second any product gets near the shelves.

Hmmm two different stores with the rep, boxes were already open... no topps chrome or chronicles. Guessing workers of Fred Meyer and target may have gotten them?

Ooof!! Why even torture yourself if you can’t buy it? That’s got to feel worse than just continually striking out. Hope you can move some of your stuff online soon. Good luck!

Anyone other than bot bois catch the Mega box restock on Target. Had the window on my second screen and the "Ship It" button showed up, obviously didn't get any. Really don't understand why they don't allow notifications for restock on the Megas, makes it even easier for bots

So much madness going on. Just talked to a Walmart worker who said someone put on a Walmart vest went and found all the chronicles in the back paid for them and left.

You might as well forget about it, it’ll be impossible to get basketball. The Topps chrome reloads you may have a chance since bots are primarily focused on basketball.

Wow. That's ballsy. If it wasn't so shady I'd be impressed.

I'm throwing in the towel on Chronicles and all retail basketball. I checked twice yesterday and once today. Some time between 11:45AM yesterday and 1:40PM this afternoon, Chronicles came and went at the Walmart closest to me in central Connecticut. Whoever cleared everything out was kind enough to leave one of the cardboard holders. No clue how much was put out.

The Harsh reality is as long as people are paying the stupid secondary market prices and supporting the flippers nothing is gonna change. It sucks when you cannot find any and want to open some but really just chalk it up as a miss opportunity and don't pay 3-6 times msrp on the secondary market because what will happen is the people trying to flip there profits will start to go down and the market might correct itself a little but as long as prices are being paid no point in complaining because if people are paying the prices no reason for it to stop.

This is exactly it. Before yesterday, the ONLY retail I found in about 2-3 months was a single cello of Mosaic. Yesterday I found two full displays of Chronicles and a full Topps Chrome display. I grabbed 7 Chronicles blasters and 1 Topps Chrome Mega because I know the struggle of being a collector and not being able to find any at retail. I opened 3 of the Blasters and the Mega and I am saving the other 4 Blasters for when I have the itch to open something and can't find anything on the shelves for the next 2-3 months. But I refuse to pay the up-charged price on eBay from flippers. I would rather put that money towards singles than purchase a blaster for $70+, regardless of what the product is.

Yeah its hard to blame people for making money but it can be corrected but the thing of it's most collectors are doing it to themselves buy buying the upcharged boxes.

And when people buy the upcharged retail product, it causes the hobby products to go even higher. It sets a lot of people up to fail because the ROI is harder and harder to reach with these insane wax prices. And like you said, most collectors are doing it to themselves and then complain about it.

correct i have been doing this a long time and honestly the content of the boxes retail or hobby hasnt changed much which is the part that's laughable because a box that was $100 thats now $800 still 9 out of 10 times probably has $40 dollars of value in it. also everybody is holding wax its not rare its just everyone is holding thats why singles are so high there is more made every year but when everyone holds sealed it appears shorter.

Nothing in Louisville. Been to a couple Targets/ Walmart’s every day around 1130-12 and when I get off at 4 and the most I’ve seen is 1 empty display box at a Walmart. Starting to think they never saw the shelves most places. Not once did I see anyone camping at the Cards sections though so I guess that’s something.

Funny thing about my trip was there was no one there when I got there, but when I was checking out, two different people came and asked me about what I had. I ended up giving each a few of the different sku's.

The funniest part though... I had a Walmart worker come up to me as well while checking out, pull out a piece of paper and show it to me. On it was two different names with phone numbers. The top of the paper said "Call as soon as basketball product arrives for $" basically. She asked if I was either of the people on the note...which obviously I wasn't. She said he was going to be mad...I said I'd be there same time next Friday if he wanted to talk to me about it . I'm assuming they are passing around those notes to all the workers up by the card section?
