I'm a little tempted to go to the Wikipedia page for one of these players and add a made-up colorful anecdote or factoid to see if any of the artists makes reference to it in their card.

"Later nicknamed 'Junior' and 'the Kid', Griffey went by 'Thirsty' growing up due to his love of Yoo-hoo and Gatorade."

I think we are going to hear this a lot in the coming months/years.

I realize it’s heresy to degrade anything 52T but 51B Mays is likely a Top5 card for me all-time. It’s gorgeous and for Topps to bungle that decision is...we’ll to be expected.

Efdot's Mays is one of my favorite cards in the series.

Siff has been my favorite set so far but I am not feeling this Mays at all. Generally, his two tone cards have been my least favorite of his but at least Jeter and Mattingly were way less...orange. We're still two months from Halloween and this year is going by quickly enough as it is.

LOL...but for real, I read he would drink 10 or more Dr. Peppers a day in the Clubhouse as a Mariner which probably had something to do with the injuries.

Had to be in Sam's Club over the weekend. Halloween stuff for sale everywhere already. I couldn't believe it.

It must be time.

More so than any other Siff card (outside of maybe Ryan) the Mays is the closest to his core style. if you follow him or even look at his IG his "doodle" style of people is almost his signature.

Grotesk for the win!!!

...But I am disappointed that no one pointed out that this symbolizes that it is indeed over Johnny.

Can probably get it done for under $600....maybe $500 if some best offers are accepted on Gwynn and Gibson...

I am curious what do people propose Topps to do about their wrong information on the shipping times. Keep in mind a lot of us are patiently waiting and have not complained about having orders over 60 days out even though their website says they will ship 15-30 business days after the clock expires.

I am patient and will continue to be, but I feel they owe their customers something to make this right. Am I wrong?

And it could have been fantastic if he left off the pop art border, or chose to incorporate less items more subtly. The card could have been amazing (to me), but it is ultimately a miss in his set for my preferences.

If you want to organize a boycott, I'm in.

Just wait until I finish my Ermsy, Naturel, Rochester, Siff, and Mets (partial) runs.

And once I get my Efdot Williams I will be boycotting all P2020 eBay purchases.

Unless I change my mind.

By going way over the top and adding so many, I think he did this: they're only the border, particularly when you look at it from a distance. He's been consistent. On the Gibson, they're satellites in space around the almighty pink Bobhead. On the McGwire, they're only sides, and the Big Mac has most of the calories.

I think the bigger issue is still how orange it is, and how almost all of the card besides the center big Willie looks like too much Cy Twombly scribble scrabble unless you zoom in and stare at it. It's all... ugly.

I agree: the colorway is the big problem for me, though I also don't love how tidily the doo-dad border is arranged.

I love Siff's Ryan.

This will be my first Grotesk. I can't pass on the Trout. That's a great card.

To my eyes, in this card and the Gibson they stand out too much. The Big Mac is so vibrant they fall in to the background, and in the Thomas, the colorful brush strokes mute them. We'll see how it looks in hand next to the others, but my thought was to have each card be like a small piece of pop art in a larger piece. I don't need a pop art style inception thing going on at the end with pop art inside of pop art, inside of pop art. That's where I'm coming from; the colors are fine, and honestly I have enjoyed the two color cards. If prices go back up, Ill be tempted to dump the set if the pop art within pop art theme continues prominently.
