If the election came down to feelings, and for the majority it does, Joe Biden feels better. Joe Biden represents a lot of things I despise and has taken stances that I actually think are a greater danger to this country then the stances Donald Trump has taken. I pretty much would have voted for any democratic candidate over Biden (probably not Bloomberg). When you add in the fact that Joe Biden has obviously lost some mental faculties (not his fault) I don’t understand how any reasonable person thinks that Biden is a good representation of the Presidency. Almost the same arguments made against Trump stand for Biden as well. Since no politician represents my views completely, I’m going to have to side with Trump as the lesser of the two evils. Not because Joe Biden is some far-left extremist or will do the bidding of the “marxists”, but because Joe Biden does not represent the working class who I feel like make up the majority of the country and are completely under represented at the Federal level. Donald Trump has no more political capital. He’s a lame duck right now and I’d rather stall for 4 years under Trump over having another politician who is bought and paid for. Donald Trump is a lot of things, but he is not bought by big interests. There’s a reason Biden is out raising Donald Trump right now, and it’s not because of that fake BLM money. |

It can be dangerous if not tempered but it has a place. When I spent a month in southern Mexico, there were times I was riding through Pedernales or Tacambaro in the back of a truck and it was like I was on display. Very store owner and patron would walk out and look. I called it “Gringo on Parade”. And of course very thing thought I was rich, but I was just a poor white college kid living off bags of pasta and jars of sauce. Bias does not equal racism, though. It’s not even close, no matter how many want to twist it into that. It’s about assumptions based on experience or lack of. We should seek to understand our own as well as others. |

No he’s long gone. It was recent. Might of been in this thread or the virus thread. So many likely candidates though.

Trump lost the money battle with Hillary in 2016 by almost a 2 to 1 margin. The big money hates Trump for the same reasons the establishment does. |

Don’t confuse Donald Trump with Republicans in the House and Senate.
That BIG money does not flow to Trump. That’s not to say he hasn’t passed legislation that disproportionately has helped big business (tax cuts), but comparatively it’s no where close to what we’re used to. |

The second bolded point you made is important as it seems there are many people who have no concept of the values, both historically and currently, that Biden stands for. He is about as far from being "left" as an Democratic candidate I can think of and a terrible representation of political progress in the country. Despite the Democratic party entertaining so many presidential hopefuls, to end up with Biden as the candidate is surely an indictment on the party & the media. That said, after seeing the disarray the U.S. has experienced the last few months between Covid response & civil uprisings, combined with Trump's inability to provide any semblance of diplomatic leadership during this trying time, I'd rather give the floor back to the Democratic establishment. The ways I've seen the president pander to only his camp and continue to disseminate unfiltered misinformation is troubling. I feel another term for Trump will inevitably lead to further social unrest and a worse outcome than even an incompetent, old corporatist candidate could provide. If the Covid outbreak had not occurred and dismantled our country, I'd perhaps feel more indifferent to Trump's divisive presidency. Last edited by Jopeal; 07-28-2020 at 07:52 PM. |

As for Trump's political capital, he'd get more with re-election. With what he gained with his re-election, George W. Bush tried to get rid of social security, before he was defeated on that, and made a lame duck only at that point. What do you suppose an emboldened Trump (and his various manipulators) might try? Best to not find out.

Not confusing that at all. And I'm not talking about all the big business tax cuts, that's typical for both parties. I'm talking about opening up the public lands and national parks to the mining/oil/gas interests. Surely, potential billions could be at stake, especially in Alaska. What's behind this push? Something tells me there's more to the story. As far as donor dollars: Hasn't trump lost several powerful traditional republican mega donors? Despite this, Biden has HUGE money behind him gunning for this election. It makes me laugh how people on these boards say he's such a leftist. He's probably the MOST right leaning democrat in years. |

if it was biden from 4 years ago i would vote for him in a second. i just think he seems like hes losing his wits. stumbling over almost everything he says. combine that with the turmoil in the country that a lot of the democrats refuse to acknowledge, and the crazy cancel culture/hypocrisy and i'm leaning to not voting or towards trump. not because of trump, but more as a vote against the other side.

I haven't researched enough to offer an opinion on the Paris Climate Agreement Jopeal, but I'm not a fan of allowing gas/oil/mining interests on national park lands. |

You actually have the wrong useful idiot, that would be Biden. Whoever is going to actually be in charge under a potential Biden presidency is basically running an influence auction house right now. It is something to behold. |

Agreed. We have enough oil in states like ND that we can leave these places alone. It will always be there and when/if we really need to go get it, we can. We have shifted the pendulum so far that oil producing countries are conspiring to flood the market with oil to bankrupt shale operations.

For sure. Our national parks are one the greatest environmental assets we have as a country & a genius stroke from President Roosevelt.
