Default Clarke Schmidt Thoughts

Had a really good outing with the Yankees today. What are people's thoughts on him? Could potentially break camp with the Yankees as a reliever.

Glad to see his strong "spring" continues. He will get his shot this season. Yankees need pitching. Everyone is an unknown outside Cole.

I’ve been trying to tell people he’s a better pitching prospect then Deivi Garcia.

His stuff has improved greatly. Sharper break on the slider and more movement on the fastball. I am hoping both Deivi and him break camp with the big club.

If you're buying to collect, buy now.

If you're buying to resale, buy now.

I hope he gets a bunch of innings, he has a nasty slider, these are meaningless 60 games IMHO and would like to see prospects instead of Happ Cessa etc

Fellow Gamecock here. Between Schmidt and Jordan Montgomery I'll be rooting for the Yankees a few times this year, which feels weird to me as a Braves fan but those guys were great in college.

The book on Schmidt in college was that he was very polished and looked like he could step into a rotation really quickly because of his stuff and command. When you pitch that well in the SEC it is generally a strong indicator of success in the pros. The only thing I'm surprised about is that they're talking about him as a reliever, as I thought he would still be a good starting candidate. The injury his junior year at USC took a while to get identified and really hurt him because he might have been a top 12 or 15 pick before it. I think the entire conversation around his prospect status changed because of that injury, but I don't think the underlying skillset has changed. I'm bullish on him long-term.

Looked good again last night, hes definitely playing this year and I think hes got the skills and confidence to shine. Absolute buy now for me, he's still very affordable

Overlooked prospect at the time of the draft due to Tommy John surgery. Unfortunately will be 25 by the time 2021 season starts which puts a serious ding in his upside.

Base chrome at $50 is insane. These were $6 18 months ago. Easy pass at this price.

Yanks see him as a starter and he will more than likely be first man up to start if one of the main starters cant begin the year. He's passing Loaisiga on the depth chart as the summer camp continues. His cards are priced high already, but if he gets a starting spot to the start the season, they will definitely still go up more with how huge the Yankee fan base is.

Base chromes from $55 to $16.

Essentially a lost year and he'll now be a 25 year old future #4.

Idk if he was ever seriously thought of as future ace. The prices that Clarke and Deivi went for in season always felt a little too high for 2 young pitchers with large question marks about them.
