Being single - if you go on dating sites now, women post in the opening line:

We are SO polarized - and I absolutely blame this on Trump and the current GOP
I congratulate you for being brainwashed. If you think it's solely Trump you need to stop watching CNN because you're rotting your brain with liberal propaganda.

Generally, lumping "fringe" politicians (thinking the Steve King and Ilhan Omar polarizing types) as somehow representative of a party as a whole is problematic.

Now of course, Trump is far more than a fringe party representative...he is the figurehead so it does come with extra weight. Even still, lumping Trump voters (or his fanatical base) as racist is wildly incorrect. Are some racist? Sure. Are some not racist? Sure.

We need to move away from the outlier generalizations when it comes to everything.

Thank you. As a Trump voter I sincerely appreciate that coming from a non-Trump voter.

I agree. This divisiveness started before 2016. It became cemented and normal during Obama’s presidency. It was much more low key during the Bush/Clinton years.

I will have to respectfully disagree with you - Obama wasn't constantly calling people names, railing against the GOP, crying that the media was on him, crying about the constant bombardment against him by the GOP that hated him.......

I would point it at the Obama- McConnell relationship. To me that seemed to escalate things on both sides.

Yep. Racial tensions, specifically, were a big deal towards the end of Obama's tenure.

Not from kookoo town - I am a free thinker. I am educated (maybe that is bad in these times - who knows) and I am not brain washed. I actually read Fox News more than I do CNN...... sorry to burst your bubble on that one.

As an American I hold the position of the POTUS in the highest of high regard. I respect the position (always will) but I currently do not respect the man in that position.

Are you implying that the media was 'on him' in the same way they are/have been 'on' Trump, and anything/everything they associate with him?

What would you call events like Ferguson then? I'm not saying it is Obama's fault but regardless of what you'd like to believe, the division was there before Trump was.

I really have only been alive long enough to witness both terms of Obama and Trump and I personally don't feel there was ever a time of unrest. I really didn't ever experience the Bush years because between ages 1-9, you aren't aware of politics. So as someone who is only use to this divisiveness I don't agree with you.

Not implying - I am saying - Fox tried on the daily to destroy Obama with anything he said, did or wore.

I understand why Fox did it - money ... also made for good TV at times

Both parties and their lapdog media outlets have done a great job telling the country how right they are and how wrong the other side is. Pretty easy to determine how culpable they all are in effectively dividing the country into two piles of brainwashed idiots. Any cross- aisle “ free thinking” is usually shot down as “commie talk” or “racist rhetoric”. It’s just much easier to say you’re either for us or against us than to actually promote research and independant thought on individual issues.
They’re winning big time.

One is nonsense, one is proven fact.

You say things are too polarized and yet you're willing to stick 100% of rumor and accusation to people you don't like. The country is too polarized because you choose to polarize it.

Either I am reading you wrong, or does that not really answer the question.

Put simply:

Obama and Trump's treatment by the media. Equal? More favorable to Trump? More favorable to Obama?

Don't forget you listed the ONE major news outlet that sides with Republicans.. out of what? Four? Five?

Thank you for clarifying and I respect that.

I was born in 72 and lived through the Reagan years, although young - I still believe he did a good job, at that time for the climate.
I wasn't a fan of Bush Sr
I did like Clinton
I liked Bush Jr and believe the speech he gave Sept 11, 2001 was one of the best I had ever heard.
I liked Obama

So there you have it - you know who I voted for in the elections I could vote for

I get my news from many different outlets before I try and form an opinion. I will agree I lean left - however that does not mean I agree with it all.....

It's not about just race but across the spectrum.

I will keep this simple and short because I will not be here at some points during day.

LGBTQ+

Race
Travel ban on several predominantly Muslim countries
The Wall - coupled with calling Mexicans drug dealers, murderers, and rapists. Bad hombres
Immigration detention (over the top with separating families)
DACA

Again, these are the few of the backwards policies that Trump has initiated.

I am going to go play with my kids. See all later.
