Anybody for Jurickson Profar? Hes usually a popular mention in these threads. Not out of baseball yet but a pretty far cry from #1 overall prospect. Pretty crazy to think about where we are now and what price levels some of these guys wouldve commanded in this hobby environment.

I have a huge collection of Cito Culver (Yankees first round pick in 2010)....... can't be worth anything at all now, but I haven't tried to sell it at all....

I mean I have both Supers, most of the Reds and so on from Draft that year but I can't imagine a scenario where they are worth enough to make me part with them

So the ultimate question is whether or not this collection buys you anything positive. If the answer is yes, then it's likely more than the pittance of the offer and you should hold.

If however, the answer is no; then you can take that money and buy something positive. Outside the box.

For me these days, it's as simple as that.
I sold.

And I sad.

It's crazy that Profar is younger than Judge. It seems like he's been disappointing collectors for like 15 years now.

Profar was my guy. I needed hope after the Rangers lost the 2011 WS in devastating fashion and we just so happened to sign Darvish AND have the #1 overall prospect. I have a large pelican case full of his cards. I'm still buying some of the rarer cards as they pop up at lower and lower prices now... not because I think he'll ever be relevant again but mostly because I want to complete some of the low print run rainbows and such.

When Judge cards inevitably crash hard:

There will be a saving grace.

His cards will actually hold some sentimental and nostalgic value for all of us who collected him in 2017 (before everything ended) and remember fondly that great year in our lives, for many of us getting back into the hobby because of Judge.

I had a large Philip Humber stash back in 2005, then took a beating when he got traded in the Johan Santana deal...I was able to salvage some funds when he threw his perfect game a few years later and unloaded a bunch of low numbered Bowman Chromes and Sterlings I still had....thankfully the eBay chargeback issues were not like what they are now...

I remember back on the old Beckett boards there was a live thread going on when he was throwing his no-hitter and ended up hurting himself. People were losing their ever-loving minds in that thread.

Too many busts to list, got boxes of prospects that were just laying around. Not even sure if its worth it to list even for a few bucks. It does make me hesitant in buying prospects but that's not to say I never picked any good prospects to buy and hold on to. But recently I'm shying away from the prospect hype.
