I’m genuinely enjoying the interpretations here on Ermsy’s Griffey.

This set is such a classic even if it has financially seen it’s peak.

Maybe Ermsy is referring to Griffey’s career and how he forced a “split” from the Mariners. Griffey bashing his head could be interpreted as doing harm to his own career as a result.

PR guesses? Both of these going to drop below that 10000 line? Two good lookin cards but both artists seem to be on the low end of the PR history and what with it being over and all...

But until we do, he feels like bashing his own head open with a baseball bat

Nice interpretation, but this card was leaked well before any of this craziness with the set happened.

What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Deep down, I wish one of the artists had drawn face masks over the player on every card they did. Would be funny. Fucci, you reading this? You still won't have to draw faces.

I hope they limit face masks and protests and references to violence, hatred and death to the collector cards.

I read that Fucci just doesn’t like to do faces. Kinda makes sense. why waste time on faces when you can focus on boobies.

I’m collecting Fucci and think his Ripken and Thomas are magnificent. But He totally failed on his Trout by not doing the normal card. Not impressed with it in hand either.

Yup! We were texting a few weeks ago before he introduced the new tier. The closing and/or cap on the high tier was discussed and is a great decision, I’m glad he made that call!

For those of you who do want into the $150 tier, it probably isn’t going to be closed forever. There will probably be some limited opportunities coming up to jump into that tier.

So make sure to at least join at the $5 level and keep an eye on those push notifications as the months go on!

Not to take away from people’s potential interpretation of the Griffey, but Ermsy has done a few of the “split” head look in his work.

I think he capped the VIP tier at 50. Works out to be $300 per month (on average) - $150 per card. It's a pretty good deal though. You're allowed to buy one numbered auto and an un-numbered one. Un-numbered ones are easily going for $150 above cost so that'd be a wash with the Patreon fee. I'm doing a set of Efdot autos so this is perfect.

And no, i don't work for Efdot.

There may be something else in the works that he and I have been discussing.

Either way, those who are interested should join the $5 tier

The real question is - will he include all the cards im stuffing inside? I am guessing no. The fanny itself will prob hold value bc its the first one, but it was more of a vessel to get you guys a bunch of dope CardArt!

Well....I realize now you’re bragging and making it into some weird contest. Can’t believe it took two posts for me to realize/ well done! We get it, you have knowledge that none of us do.

Had a great chat with Sophia Chang, which I will be releasing tonight on YouTube.com/blakejamieson at 10:23pm EST.

Got an ALL STAR cast coming up too:
Matt Taylor
Andrew Thiele
JK5
Jeff Heckman (leader of Project 2020 at Topps)
and a few players we are painting in the set, but cant release those names just yet.

Stay Awesome!

One thing that baffles me is how Ermsy is producing all this art of sexualized, popular cartoon characters.

Did he acquire permission to use all this material? He's using Betty Boop, Winnie the Pooh, Bart Simpson, and Garfield.

I have a hard time believing that these copyright owners allowed their HEAVILY PROTECTED BRAND to be sexualized and profited by anyone except themselves.

I assume this is just some sort of fly-by-night, bootleg stuff that you find at the State Fair? Which would explain why it's pretty difficult to track down information on him?

I'm intrigued that Topps, a company which derives ALL of its value from franchising and exclusive rights to various sports and franchises, would partner with this.

(It's also entirely possible that the artist has permission to use these characters--I'm skeptical, to say the least.)

Maybe someone with a better knowledge of copyright law can fill me in--it's not my practice area. I don't see an apparent exception which would allow this art to be produced and sold.

I didn't bother really selling or flipping because most cards weren't even worth the $3 cost of shipping to USPS. I remember selling Strasburg at his peak and thinking holy cow something just issued can pay for the $20 box it came out of?

If you've been in this hobby for longer than two years, you should have made significant potentially life changing money the last few years. Paying off student loans entirely and many years off your mortgage money. You know what has enabled that? It's not all collectors, it's flippers and sneaker bois and everything we hate about the hobby. Without them, we'd be back to the days of celebrating selling a Trout update or Giannis rookie for $20 thinking wow what a large sale that was. Nobody enjoys being elbowed by three wife beater beard necks in the card aisle at Target/Walmart, but I don't understand the "hobby purist" sentiment either of wanting to return to the days of 100% spend and guaranteed loss if you want to make sports cards your hobby. People have made life changing money the last few years and it certainly was not through "gambling". The blowout members who flip/invest are not any less collectors and certainly not gamblers
Talk to gamblers who go to the race track and to the casino and they will tell you about their systems while trying to bum 20 bucks off you. If you think that you will invest your way to life changing money then you haven't been in this hobby long enough. I know very few millionaire dealers of cards who are able to retire early. The ones that have made "life changing" money usually cheated like Memory Lane or PWCC.
