My first at bat, be gentle.
Long time collector , been lurking on here for awhile. I jumped in around the 40s. Im kicking myself for not getting from the start. I do think this set is unique and will be remembered. I tried catching up on the early ones and bought a few but I have set myself a limit so luckily i didn't get caught in last weekend's madness. As a longtime Ebay seller I've never seen a market for goods fluctuate so much as this. it's crazy. I bought/sold my fair share of cards but I've mostly sold sneakers. Stockxx is a good alternative but it has it's drawbacks. Some have mentioned. I'm looking forwarded to future releases. What a roller coaster! |

I think a lot of people are like me. Waiting for the bottom to buy. When the bottom hits, and a few BIN get hit to start an upward price move, things will pick back up again. A lot of people got burned buying too high and want to make darn sure they don’t do it again.

If it was the only one available, it'd easily be worth $1,100 to me. I'm sure I'll pay that much for another when the market dries up. Lol.
The funny thing with these cards is they've seemingly followed the comic book model. Hot comic book issue drops. Some people get it at cover price, some people vastly overpay, all in the same week. Market gets flooded with copies with people thinking they can make a quick buck. The book tanks. Bottom is found. Issues dry up. Book ticks back up. Over time a classic cover / story will be timeless and always be desirable. I see the same thing with these cards. I've loved them from the second I saw the Ermsy Trout and I love them just as much today. Having a fun rollercoaster ride with prices is just a bonus part to the experience. That one has tanked harder than almost any card. Was $1,200 a week ago. It's a sub 2k PR with one of the most popular artist. Pretty surprising.

Ichiro JK5 is eerily similar. Was $900 a week ago...now in the $300's. PR is 1700 and a really nice card. Curse of the Ichiro?

Welp, new guy here. I'm that guy that got in late. I collected for about 18 years before fading out in the early 2000's. My buddy @Chris_P was pumping this project up for weeks before I finally listened and dived in. Unfortunately for me the timing couldn't be worse.
From the second I bought it's been nothing but downhill and frustration following this board. This past Monday I had grabbed both the Thiele Trout ($214) and Baller Trout ($199) followed by purchases of the Griffey Shore/Ryan Vides combo. Followed that with a single purchase of the Williams Oldmanalan. I was hooked by Blake's live YouTube saying "buy everything". I thought for sure the Trout's were a wise investment considering it's Mike Trout and relatively low print runs. I was obviously wrong. At this point I don't even know if I should hold or sell or if it's just a lost cause all the way around. Just a big bag of welp and a lesson learned. I'll stick to taking low risks and picking my spots to spend on Dirk/Luka. |

Is there 1,700 P2020 full set collectors? Most likely. Is there 1,700 JK5 collectors? No sure. Is there 1,700 Ichiro collectors? Absolutely. Is there 1,700 people who are collecting cards they like and this happens to be one of them? Absolutely. Now we just need people to stop listing them and start putting them in their collections. Ha. 1. Baller Ichiro: Many people priced out of the Baller card. The second Ichiro card in the set is Ermsy's and for that reason it became popular. 2. Ermsy Trout: Ermsy Trout was the card that kickstarted the project into high gear. Naturally when that card became out of hand, investors/flippers flocked to this Ermsy card. 3. Print Runs: Once print runs began to shoot up in the 50's and 60's, this became a no brainer short print to snatch. This card was selling for $170 less than 2 weeks ago, so where it's at now isn't bad at all. I could see it continuing to trend up in coming weeks.

Next, I’d say your timing couldn’t be better. If you had come in last week you would have paid too much! Now things are getting reasonable again. Great time to jump in. Plus, you’re never to late to buy that day’s cards on Topps.com. Still plenty of set to go...enjoy! |

1-10 stabilization continues 500 is about the number sans #1,2,4
11-20 still bouncing frequently looks to land around 300 Seems odd all are rookie rookie rcs. Blake nolan seems like a value buy at 200ish. To be fair its a higher print run for a lower demand player within this set. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
