People should just man up and take their losses. Like I am.

Like others have said print runs over 1000 are not rare!

Everything that was ending at auction today has not had bids in 3 days. All those people are not going to pay. All those cards will be relisted plus any people holding. Prices will settle at 2 to 3 times MSRP for most. I think Trout Ermsy settles at 400 to 500.

But seriously though - no card with a print run over 1000 is ever going to be worth anything - none of these buyers are really paying - the market is plummeting and everyone should get out fast. To help you, I am buying up all cards with PR under 2k on twitter - which means they are merely 2x as worthless.

Honestly, I had that same thought with Ben Baller haha. If he was off the project the cards he’s already made would go crazy.
What did he tweet?

For those who dont understand why low PRs have been negatively affected as much as they had, let me help:

Collector A buys early cards (1-40) with the idea that they like them or that they can turn profit as an investment. Later, greed kicks in and the idea that every new release that comes can double/triple/quadruple your return. So, 10 packs start getting purchased and flipped on the eBay for a sizable return. The return is then moved on to the next card that is released and so on and so on with even bigger orders going in. Then comes Griffey. All of those profits are now tied up in a losing bet. What do you do when that happens? You sell off anything you can to make it back- enter the race to the bottom in the Low PRs. Meanwhile, folks that dont have much steak in the game see the price action and panic and participate in the sell off not knowing any better.

In the end, low PRs are GOLD and the buyers of them now are a combination of collectors and wise investors. soon enough supply on the secondary market will decline and prices will increase again. maybe not to memorial day weekend highs but not at 5/31 lows.

Hahaha I need that credit card sticker.

I legit got so excited when I saw you buying these up! Can’t wait to see what happens with low PR once the floor is set!

“Steak in the game” is my new absolute favorite thing. I’ve got a T-bone into P2020 at this point.

Also, I agree with your post.

It's unfortunate, but the greed factor is catching up to a lot of people.

As an example, I sold five of my ten Griffey #6 cards for between $75.00 and $320.00. The odds of any of them being returned is remote (but always a possibility). I still possess the other five.

Same thing with five of the ten Thomas #23 cards that I sold--Etc, etc.

If were to sell one of my three "Ermsy" Trout cards today, I will sell it for $599.99.

I have already "paid for" the three complete sets (Jeter, Griffey and Trout) that I eventually want to own.

I still have 100 early cards in my possession with 170 still coming to me.

If I had been emotional about all of this, I probably would have sold at least 75 of the cards that are in my possession and then worrying about returns.

Contrary to popular opinion, I am very happy with my purchases from this week. Just wished I had judged the drop better.

I am most excited about card 100, but not because I think it will ever really make much money. Too many are going to sell for that. I just really like it.

Maybe I really am just one big idiot on the brink of financial ruin though.

Of a guy who objectively was the 17th best all around player last year. Who was objectively the 39th best hitter by wRC+, oh but I'm sure he helped a lot of people win their 5x5 roto leagues last year so let's just punch his ticket for the hof and declare him the next Trout.

If you’re not first, you’re last. You got it!

Great to hear your perspective H - Thanks for joining in on the fun.

These cards are awesome in hand. Last part seems a little doubtful

No, but all these people pouring money into Acuna cards thinking he's going to be the next Trout can just as easily end up holding the bag when he turns out to be a good / not all-time great player. This whole industry is built on over-hyping ever new player.
