This, 100%. Influx of new people who think every product is Optic/Prizm. Have no previous experience with how this works.

Many reasons:

1. They don't look as good as the Orange Ice. Not even close.
2. The print run is higher than expected.
3. Supply has gone up quickly in the last few weeks

Personally, I like Mosaic. The base design is nice and it feels like a cheaper Prizm. But even Orange Ice Prizms of Zion are going for a little over 400. The version of Mosaic should be about 50% of that.

Nice smug reply. You’re the one consistently claiming the product is scarce. All I asked is what are you comparing mosaic to when making that claim of scarcity.

This “previous experience” you speak of I’m assuming is from the last few years. What’s different now is the hobby has experienced massive growth. So my question then is, why can’t there be room for another product to join the ranks of those other, more popular brands?

I think it’s a nice change of pace from the bland design of Prizm and Optic. I’m not saying is should overtake it by any means, but I think there is room for another player in the game.

Zion NBA Debut went from (at one point) $250+ down to $150+, and now in the last 5 days, dropped to about $85. (At this rate, it'll be $40 next week).
Not that hard to get
They seem to ALL grade well
NBA debut vs regular rookie - there should be a 5x difference in pricing and it's more like 2-3x at the moment, market is correcting itself

Mosaic is just Spectra+Mosaic Prizm. Nice change, oh ok.

Hype for a product that has basically no track record...inexperienced people buying it and selling it because it's literally the only basketball product to be found. The print run seems to be quite high as well, there has been at least 3 nationwide restocks on this...as I have seen a massive amount of posts of sealed retail on facebook.
People have lost sight that the actual cards are the commodity not the sealed wax...that being said, no one actually wants the cards outside of the collector world.

I have 2 Hobby boxes of Mosaic put back. Really cant see any hobby product sealed from 2019-20, including Mosaic, not being a big hit years from now...Pending the gamble of Zion/Ja everyone is taking across the market. The Mosaic base and retail inserts will be flooded and some of the lowest value base outside of Hoops/Donruss after the smoke clears. On the other hand, the Hobby inserts are some of the best in years, as well as the cleanest silvers of the year, which both could hold a special place in newer collectors hearts years from now. Mosaic will never be Prizm though..

As an OG Chromie from the Freedom Cardboard days I've NEVER liked the X-Fractor parallel design. Maybe that's why I'll never buy/collect/build sets of Mosaic. The title could be called Panini X-Fractor.

Also the sheer number of unnumbered parallels that are presumed short printed by the community are absurd. The prices will reflect this and everyone will be trying to sell their packs to Blowout. Only things that are unnumbered/SP would be Optic Dragons, the original 2018-19 Tiger Stripes/Zebras (definitely not 2019-20 Prizm Choice or 2019-20 Select - they printed a ton this year), and other lesser known Panini chase sets.

We also have not seen a big jump in 2016-17 Mosaic...that's a tell tale sign.

Mosaic is not the x-fractor topps pattern. Thats checkerboard. Id say mosaic is a step above x-fractor/checkerboard. Thats not saying much.

I dont know if Topps has an equivalent.

You're correct sir. I guess that's why I don't collect/buy Checkerboards lol

I've noticed inserts across multiple lines Donruss/Optic/and Mosaic falling a bit. So it's not just Mosaic.

But Definitely Mosaic Green/Orange parallels NBA Deput rookies are dropping and as others have mentioned it's the right correct the market is making. These parallels are definitely not RARE. Similar to parallels like this of other sets I see the BASE Zion RC dropping to $100-120 and the Debut to $40-$60.

To say that Mosaic was limited production is a bit misleading... Limited based on what number. Whose to say this wasn't Panini's first product they planned to flood the market with. If that's the case even at 65% of print run. We're still looking at a large print run. Heck even the limited T-Mall Select boxes which we KNOW what the numbers were are slightly dropping. And they sure as heck aren't producing more of that.

Unless you buy at retail prices I wouldn't hold Mosaic Wax unless you have a high certainty that Zion/Ja or someone else is going to be a HOF. that's my two cents.

The supply is ridiculous. People leaving walmart with 3 displays full of mosaic. How many Walmart Super Centers are there? Plus hobby now in the mix.

Is that hard to beileve? I don't hold or sell product and have no interest in mosaic at all in fact I relayed the message to my buddy and told him he should enforce the 1 box/pack per customer rule on that product giving everyone who wants one a chance instead of one person buying out everything, not sure if he did but I hope that it happened.

I don't know much about Mosaic like I said in my previous post in this thread. I do think some of the cards look nice but when you try to make 50 different parallels look like a superfractor it kind of waters the entire product down imo. I would imagine that cheapens the thrill and excitement also after you've opened a couple boxes? Maybe, no? I don't know I've never bought any. I did watch a video of Phil's Pull's where he opens 2 boxes of FOTL. I have to say i was confused as well when he had 3 different colored cards /10 or /11. I know Prizm and Optic have a lot of parallels as well. How many does Mosaic have? Were some of these FOTL exclusive? I do think they look nice they just need to tone down how many "special" looking cards there are per box.

I will link the video im referring to. This guy has a great channel btw if you want to live through him vicariously and not spend thousands of dollars a week on boxes or packs of cards. He can do it because he is or was a MLB player. Not sure if he's retired or not. I don't really follow baseball much anymore.

Quite a few people getting butthurt over the attention of a product.

Mosaic is a succes for these very simple reasons.

1. It's reasonably accessible for a product that is literally the only Bball stuff on the shelves
2. It has some great chase cards. Genesis is a winner and you add in some nice inserts like That's Jam
3. It's hitting the shelves in Australia soon. We have not seen a lot of action since the 90s.

Enjoy people

With the prices low it may be a great time to do some selective buying to be perfectly honest. Silvers are HARD to Hit and beautiful. Way undervalued right now. The Ja RC base with the throwback Jersey is sweet. The Lebron prices were too high to begin with so not surprised these have tanked. Mosaic is VERY popular and is being hoarded so I would t be shocked if prices jumped cross the board in a month or so.

True silvers look incredible on the base design. Dare I say, better than Prizm or optic? I think so.

I sold my Reactive Orange to buy Inert Orange as I heard that they are shorter printed... then I sold them and bought the Zebra Orange as I heard they were even rarererer... flipped them to get Cracked Ice Orange, then into Laser Orange... then I remembered 1 in 20 guys are color blind - and excessive color parallels are lame, so I decided to buy that one other shiny Panini brand... but I got really confused as I can't tell the difference between Mosaic, Select, Optic, Donruss, Prizm, or even Otter Pop's - I saw Little Orphan Orange and figured that is the must have - it was refreshing and the right choice! When everything is rare - nothing is rare!
