Just so I don't get mobbed in this thread, there is only one Mike Trout and I understand this. With that being said, his PSA 10 updates are selling for $2,700+. Meanwhile for that price you could get 13x Acuna Update PSA 10's and 20x Soto Update PSA 10's.

Does this gap seem too wide?

I'm not sure if Soto is too low or Trout is too high but I don't think Trout should be valued 20x more than Soto. Thoughts?

Trout has the personal awards and many more years of success.

Acuna/Soto are studs, but it will take time. Also, there are already many more 2018 Update 10's than Trout Updates.

Agreed. I guess I was focusing on the fact that a couple months ago the multiple was in the 10-12x range for Soto and now we are at 20x+. Maybe I’m making a better case that Soto is undervalued and should be more in the $200-$250 range.

Mike Trout was too low. The clear #1 player in baseball. His cards were and are in a lot of cases undervalued. I feel like I've said this before a few times but the card is now in the iconic zone. It's a must have baseball card for any baseball fan. Just like the 89 Griffey was and still is. I can't understand why you wouldn't have a Griffey Upper Deck unless you just hate him. The 11 Update is up there now and all fans should have one. Unfortunately it's expensive in all grades but worth buying a lower grade just to have one if you don't already. I assume most here do.

1. The serial numbering on the back is way off-centered
2. It's missing the Topps Authenticity sticker in the top-right corner

Just seems odd for both of those things to happen on serial #001/999.

Graded Oct 2016. Were prices of these worth faking and sending to BGS back then. I'd love to see 002 just to see if it's off centered too. How often are serial #s off centered?

I haven't seen any that were off-centered like that. I guess the original owner could have removed the missing authentication sticker though.

No I agree, I looked at all that were sold and listed and none of them were off centered. The missing sticker wouldn't worry me as much because I could see someone removing it. The issue with it is that it's a flag on the card that has one already with the serial #. If I were to buy it I'd want to know how often are serial numbers off centered and what they were worth back in 2016.

Can't help you with #002, but here is mine... 005/999



Not off-center like the supposed 001 copy.

As a pretty avid former-eTopper... I can also say, removing the serial numbered COA sticker... cleanly... not easy!

One note, that I cannot confirm, as I did not take advantage of it... but maybe someone else did and could chime in. When eTopps went belly up, and at least on a couple of occassions after... they offered significant shipping discounts if you took your cards for delivery and let them send them to you raw (ie. not in a eTopps sticker sealed snap case). I guess it's possible they might have also failed to put the eTopps serial numbered COA sticker on those cards as well. Like I said though, I personally can't confirm.

I did not, because that discount was still ~$1 per card, more than most of them are worth. But Topps does not care one ounce any more about these cards, and has not in more than half a decade, so shoddy quality control is certainly possible.

...However, I can offer some insight that I just realized won't be common knowledge to many of you.

The cards are serial numbered when they are printed, which in the case of the Trout, was likely in the last couple months of 2011. But the stickers are not added until the card is requested for delivery.
