For anyone wondering about taxes on collectibles, see below, an article from doing a quick google search:

https://www.investopedia.com/article...bles-taxed.asp

Quote from the article:
"If collectibles are sold at a gain, you will be subject to a long-term capital gains tax rate of 28%, IF DISPOSED OF AFTER MORE THAN ONE YEAR of ownership."

If you are holding long term, you may find the article helpful

I officially can’t keep up now. If you need my attention tag or quote me, otherwise I’m just jumping to the bottom every time.

Compared to most general card products these are extremely limited in production. Even more so with all the early sub 4-5k print runs. I've been watching supply dwindle while sales are SOARING. I sold a bunch of my early cards but kept half until supply is really short.

Ichiro Ermsy could hit $2k by tomorrow/day after. All these cards are skyrocketing because people are purchasing them and collecting them, they're out of circulation.

Exactly......it’s difficult to comprehend because it’s a rarity in our world....but not in others.

Except I think some people (maybe not people on BO) aren’t purchasing them for their collection but to list even higher.

It is certainly possible.

But there's an inherent difference between a rookie card that's randomly inserted in products and a reprint which is available to the masses at a specific price point.

If a commodity is available at a specific price point with no limitation on supply, it would be irrational to expect a drastic change in valuation without unforeseen market changes.

But I know what they say about the market being irrational.

I do think the increased pr is more about people buying quantity versus real demand.

I also think many will run out of the capital needed to continually buy two 10 packs daily and we will see print runs come back down.

It sure is fun though!

Not if you can buy 50 at an avg price of 15 and resell them for 100.

I was able to get that one yesterday for $200.00 and I have a Tracking number. I missed it when it was released.

This is important for many.

Folks need to be keeping records of all of these P2020 card purchases in a spreadsheet, invoices in hand or whatever else they can use to show their accountant how much they paid per item and the proof. I have a spread sheet now but will be going to ebay and Topps to print out final sale receipts and just putting them in a folder on my desktop for tax purposes.

Better to be prepared than sorry.

Until the week everyone buys 50 and the demand is gone. Question of when, not if.

Thanks for the infol.

I was about to start a separate P2020 thread asking about taxes and cashing out. But this sums it up well. Maybe this can be added to the OP or something so it doesn't get lost in today's 100 pages.
