I’m trying to explain to my wife why I just spent $370 on these two cards and explained how they were all online for $20 (that was a mistake) and what the market is doing. “Why didn’t you buy all these when they were released?” Well, that would have been nice wouldn’t it have.

Cartoon is kind of slept on imo. Really hasn’t released any big names yet, and he’s probably one of the most recognizable artists of this whole project. As someone who also collects tattoos he was the second artist I decided to collect after saladeen.

I have never seen these artists mentioned on those forums. Now, that's not meant to talk down on the artists... King Saladeen has an exhibit in the Philly airport. But I think most of these artists that people are labeling as "street art" lean more toward the streetwear/hip hop cultural part of the internet. Which, again, is fine. But if you search "King saladeen forum" on Google, the 5th, 6th, and 7th search results are this thread right here.

Thank you for this. I’ve looked into Hypebeast forums and similar trends which a lot of these creators fall into or work with and I’ve seen nothing outside of baseball collectors, self-promoting artist pages and cook groups. Just was genuinely curious if there were people critiquing this project besides baseball card collectors riding a wild money train.

I’m totally fine with it if not that people in here are getting scarily serious about how they view the art now that some real higher stakes money is involved. This card is only rising to $200? It needs to be valued at $500 by the end of the week based on its print run. Don’t agree with me? You’re just salty because you didn’t buy in.

It’s a fun project with some nice up and coming artists and fashion stars. The money is only making people into supposed art experts. Hopefully those that bought in early make their fortune and won’t be left letting their “rare” cards sitting on eBay at $1200 (because that’s the market value) for years after the trend is long over.

I think an 86 MJ Fleer looks amazing next to about everything but that card still isn’t a part of the P2020 “SET.” People are crossing “assets” with “sets” with this one.

Example: One decides to put together a complete set of all 30 Official New Era MLB team hats. After buying the first 10, Mike Trout’s marketing team comes up with a brand new fresh “Mike Trout logo” and prints it on a bunch of stuff—including shirts, hoodies, sweatpants and hats. There’s only 1000 of the hats made and you can grab one on Mike Trout’s website for $100 so you do it. Now a lot of other players have logo apparel and hats too, but does that Trout hat “complete” your 30 Official New Era MLB team hat SET or is it something separate? Is a 30-MLB team hat “set” considered “complete” without the Trout logo hat from his marketing team? What if someone else who bought one said yes? Should everyone now consider the New Era 30-MLB Team hat set to actually contain 31 hats or it’s considered “not complete?”

This was a GOOD buy! You just got Griffey's second lowest PR (and a low PR in general) and invested in the only artist (that I'm aware of) that Gary V shouted out. Patience...

He’s my sleeper pick for print run king - his look is instantly recognizable and seems to be universally liked. Also helps that he has Trout, Ichiro, Jeter AND Griffey to do.

Every ebay prjct 2020card ive bought I felt i was overpaying. Ichro #1 for $350, koufax #2 for $250. Beck gooden for $220. I was on crazy pills but needed them for the full 400. Had to put my foot in the ground and make a decision felt the set was getting out of my comfort zone. Bit a FOMO pushed a lot of. Now i feel like a genius but im concerned of the rapid growth(predominately a vintage collector). Never had anything go bonkers like this. Problem is im still about 7 cards away from being up to speed and missing chang gibson and rivera oldaman. If pr continue to rise i need to buy them asap. But if they flatten i need to wait. The correct answer is in the future will say this has been a healthy experiment for me overall. Kept my mind off the crumbling world and job market around me (work in oil and gas). Later in life I’ll remember 2020 for more than covid-19, which Im extremely happy about that.

This claim about the Money Bear being part of the Saladeen set bothers me. Yes, I agree that if you sell the 20-card Saladeen set + the Money Bear it will probably go for more money. If you want the Money Bear to display it with the others, also no problem with me. I was disagreeing with the proposition that buyers will feel the set is not complete without it, or that it’s “THE key card”, like a ‘52 Topps set without the Mantle.

It doesn’t say “topps” or “project 2020” on the card, it’s not part of the 400-card set, there’s not even a player or iconic Topps card represented, and it doesn’t even have a card number (outside the serial number).

Again, if you want it or got it, then great. More power to you. You’ll probably make a profit from it. You just don’t need to deflate the value of the rest of the actual 20-card set (or 400 card set) to do so. Calling it the key card or saying that the real set is diminished without it, just unnecessarily contributes to all of the FOMO and wild price increases.
