I bought a bunch of the 2017 Topps S1 Toys R Us Blister packs from Blowout hoping to pull the purple Judge RC. Odds were low but I got it. They were selling for quite the price back in Judge mania.

Last year’s Stadium Club. I went to my LCS jokingly bragging that I would pull a Vlad auto. I buy a box and this pops out now he thinks I know what’s in what box. The bad part was that I bought a Vlad auto on eBay the week before.

I’m definitely a small timer compared to you all, but I started collecting again last fall and found two lone 2018 Topps Holiday boxes at Wal Mart. I bought them with the hopes of pulling an Acuna Metallic Snowflake, and what do ya know, got it in the first box!

Bought 1 box of 2011 Contenders Football and in the first pack hit a Kaep rookie auto right during the peak of his SB run.

Bought 2 2009 topps finest master boxes looking to hit a Trout Very last mini hit a base ref auto Also hit 3 base rookies This was probably about a 6-12 months after release I think I payed anywhere from $120/140 a box. Bought the boxes in a local hobby shop

Dec. 10, 2018 on a Saturday. I went to Walmart looking for Prizm. They had 2 boatloads of Blaster, Mega and Cello. I grabbed only the Mega than I saw that the Blaster has #/25 Pulsar. So, I took 1 Blaster and left the Mega. Then I started to think about wasting money, but decided it is only $22 with tax.

Baseball, 2018 Update- I need an Acuna.

In 91, my grandma bought me a box of donruss. I knew the elite cards were a hard pull, and it was probably better for me to leave it sealed, surely it would be worth more years down the road right??? 3 or 4 years later I said enough is enough. I cracked the box. Could believe iwas doing such a stupid thing. A couple packs in, I see copper that you normally would not see. Sure enough there was a George Brett elite card. I was stunned.

The year was 2018. I needed to get a flat tire repaired. As I was waiting, I went and bought a blaster box of 2018 bowman. Going though it i saw a plain looking black card with Juan Sotos name on it. I read through the big league break through rules. Having never heard of Soto before, and my luck of never winning anything, I figured nothing would happen with it. Shortly there after Soto was called up and started his career. Cool!

A few months later I grabbed another blaster from the exact same store. I thought to myself, the only way I beat the last blaster is if I pull the acuna break through. Half way through the box...there it was the acuna break through card.

Both got redeemed, and I got 2 amazing cards out of it. In the back of my mind was always the drawing for 1st and second prize. Close to 2 years go by, and never heard anything about the drawing. I never win anything, so no surprise. In March, I get a random email from topps about being a winner. I called topps to see what exactly I had won, but they couldn't tell me what exactly it was. After another month and a half, I finally got my prize, the 1st prize auto set. Still shocked about it

I guess you could say I have. In 2005 I went to the local show and saw one box of 04-05 E-XL basketball sitting on a table. I grabbed it with the hopes of hitting a Jambalaya, and knowing that LeBron was the best in the set, naturally hoped for him. Well near the end of the box, I see a die-cut card and slowly reveal it to see it’s the LeBron Jambalaya. The kicker is that it wasn’t the base version, but the SUPER RARE XL version.

2013 Finest.

Wished and hoped to get what was listed on the sell sheet... Buyback Autograph 1993 Topps Finest Refractor of Ken Griffey Jr. #/5.

Sure enough, hit it in my case!

BUT... unlike the sell sheet they only did a base card and were not numbered.

Certainly did not look a gift horse in the mouth, I still have that one PC.

walked into my LCS several years ago and saw 2015 Contenders for around $90 a box.

on the cover is Alex Bregman, Carson Fulmer, Dansby Swanson, and Andrew Benintendi. BUT...you can also get cards of Aaron Judge and Vlad Jr.

Bought two boxes hoping for two of three players- Swanson, Benny, or Judge, pulled Swanson and Benny.

maybe the Judge would have been in the third box, who knows?

2018 Bowman

I wanted to buy some in hopes of hitting either a Green Ohtani Autograph or the Ohtani Super Auto. I couldn't catch any locally and I had mentioned it to my daughter who was at college. She called me one day and said she was at Walmart and they had some. I had her buy the 5 blaster boxes they had and they stayed in her car for a few weeks until she came home for a weekend. Starting opening and hit this. Had the best auto of any ohtani I had seen. I sold it a few months later to a BO member who graded it and it came back a 10/10. I was very excited to pull what I was after and enjoyed owning it for awhile but sold it and turned it into a graded 53 MAntle.

When i was in 6th grade in the early 1990s, I gave my friend $20 because he was going to a card shop that was close but too far for my parents to drive me anytime soon. I asked him to buy me two packs of 1986-87 topps hockey. This was big money for me, to spend $10 per pack...

I really wanted to pull a Patrick Roy. he brought the packs to school. I opened both, and they were the EXACT same pack..and each pack had a Roy RC. I still have them to this day.

good times, thanks OP for the thread...and congrats!

2003 Spx chasing the Matsui Jersey auto. Bought two boxes online then, 1st box I think was a Phelps auto and then 2nd one had the Hideki Matsui auto 684/684, or whatever the numbering. I just know it was the last one numbered.

In 1998 I got a box of Upper Deck Football and pulled Peyton Manning, Randy Moss, and Ryan Leaf.

i've got a similar story, but for football.

last summer, i'm at my LCS, bought a box of 2019 Luminance football cards on Friday ($90) a box and pulled a Deebo Samuel autograph. I'm a Niners fan, so i'm already happy, but i wanted Bosa of course.

That night, i go on eBay, and buy a Bosa Lumincane autograph for $35, on-card, since i didn't get it in the box.

the very next day, i go back to the shop, buy another box, and guess what...i pulled a Bosa Luminance autograph card lol, the same card i had just purchased on ebay hours earlier.

Last year, when card shows were still a thing, I purchased a box of 1992 Stadium Club basketball for $30. I had my eye on the box for a couple of shows, but never pulled the trigger because I knew the odds were not in my favor to pull the one card I wanted - the Jordan Beam Team. Beam Team cards were inserted at around one per box (no exact odds back then) and the checklist is 20 cards long.

Flash forward to my wife, son, and myself opening packs in the mall parking lot when my heart sinks; my wife pulled the Beam Team insert. Mark Price. Probably the worst one you could get. Forlorn, I continue to open the remaining 20-or-so packs while my wife goes back into the mall for whatever and my son begins opening his blind bags. As I open one of the last handful of packs I notice something in the middle of this pack - its backward, and the back doesn't look like the standard Stadium Club back. I flip through the cards when I discover my second Beam Team card in the box. And it's the Jordan!

Its funny to think that the box had been sitting unopened for 27 years and I'm the one that was lucky enough to buy it and find exactly what I was looking for.

On a baseball related note, when Blowout was holding its March Madness sale, I purchased a box of 2018 Heritage High Number for no other reason than to pull the Acuna Action Variation. The odds were, again, not in my favor (one action per box times 25 different variants). But, lo and behold, in my next to last pack was Acuna swinging away.

These two moments make me feel better when I think back on all of the 2018 Series 2 and Update I purchased, never getting a Bat Down or a SSP (or SP).
Hitting the exact card that I was after was actually what got me into the hobby.
In 1989, I expressed an interest in some cards that were displayed at Toys R Us (a 1988 Donruss Blister pack display). My dad said," if you like baseball cards, you should buy the older cards, because they're more collectible". The next weekend, we found a shop and went in with the intention of buying the oldest pack we could get, for $5. That turned out to be a 1982 Topps pack. My dad asked the dealer what the best card we could get out of that pack would be and he said, "a Cal Ripken rc". So my dad picked one pack and paid for it. We opened the pack and BOOM...Cal Ripken rc.
Been hooked ever since.

In 2017 I was looking for a hot blaster with Judges. I got one. It had the manufactured Judge thick card in the bonus pack. And in one of the other packs was a base RC and a rainbow foil Judge RC, but typical Topps the foil card was corner dinged up so I immediately sent it to Topps for replacement. They replaced it. The new rainbow foil Judge went to BGS. It came back 9.5 with GEM corners. Too bad Judge interest is tanking.

2 occasions off the top of my head:

1. Summer of '96 I bought 12 packs of Ultra Series 2 from my local Target. I pulled a Thunderclap Gold Medallion Griffey, Jr. I was 11 and probably had tears of joy for 5+ minutes. Utter excitement without the yelling lol

2. Just last year I bought a single 2018 Topps Hobby Factory Set and pulled the Acuna Jr. foilboard. Another satisfying moment.

Honorable mention would be way back in 1994, I made decision to switch packs on Topps baseball and bought a rack pack at my local Wal-Mart. I got a Topps Gold Griffey, Jr. pulled in the backseat of my parents SUV. Another great moment for a kid.

Yes, went to LCS to buy a box of 2015 Heritage. Told owner the card I want is the Correa auto. Half way through the box it literally hit. We both couldn't believe I called my card. Still have it today as one of the few cards I have pulled, graded, and held in my PC.

Once, and it will never happen again lol. Bought one jumbo box last year of 2017 BC (draft? I'm not sure) and hit an Acuna Refractor auto. I should probably quit.

I bought a case of 2000 Fleer Mystique baseball for just over $400 for the sole purpose to see if I could pull the 1st certified auto of Hideo Nomo. In the 2nd to last Box, I see a Fresh Ink auto and it's revealed to be a Tiger. Once I fully revealed the card to myself, it was indeed a Nomo. I sold it to a Japanese buyer on eBay that night for $625.
