I would be careful when buying these boxes.
I considered buying these 99 Preferred boxes years ago, then someone told me they used a metal detector to see if their were any precious metals cards inside the boxes.
Since then I refuse to buy these. Not saying that everyone does it, but left a bad taste in my mouth

I opened a bunch back then I never ever pulled a platinum /50. Remember, the McNabbs are rookies, I sent a bunch to a member here.

I pulled the Terrell Davis Game Used Helmet from this...it had the Broncos eye from the logo. Wish I still had it. Thanks for sharing!

I imagine all the foil would deter that.

probably not with the quality of metal detectors now. I mean, I don't know how many people are going to go out of the way to do this but foil wont stop a good detector

Love it! I have been opening 99 boxes looking for McNabb rookies. A member was nice enough to send me some.

While I agree with this sentiment, people use scales all the time these days in the open at target. The 1998 Donruss Preferred Baseball Retail Boxes at Toys R Us and Target came in cardboard just like these boxes. I used to buy them whenever I saw them. Pulled all kinds of great cards but NEVER a Precious Metal. Then some guy told me he used a metal detector to find them. Not sure if he was full of crap but always had me wondering.

That is why I like the Hobby Metal Tins they had in 1997 FB and 97 and 98 BB. My guess is those made it nearly impossible.

Still a very cool set. I had the PM of B. Sanders, Aikman, B Favre, Plummer, Chandler and a few others from this set. Sold them when the market was on fire
