Here's an interesting perspective on how the system is being manipulated by Governor Hogan in Maryland. He said he would not even think about re-opening anything until after he sees 14 days of decreases. I don't believe if he ever said if that meant deaths, cases, hospitalizations or what.

ON 4/30 on the Maryland COVID-19 deaths according to their Department of Health for 4/29 was listed at 39 with 1 probable as reported 4/30. Today on 5/1, the deaths listed for 4/29 now stand at 50. Where the heck did those extra deaths come from 2 days ago if there was only 1 probably death not included in the original death total?

As I said before, Hogan is in a mad dash with Cuomo and Murphey to screw everyone and keep them stuck at home since he cant be re-elected. But he dd come out and say he may run for President in 2024.

If Maryland cases continue to rise with stay at home orders and everything but essential businesses closed, there is no reason not to re-open the rest of the retail stores, doctors offices, and restaurants with some guidelines. It's obvious additional people are still contracting the virus anyway.

And I think we are still at 47 or 48% of deaths in Maryland are from nursing homes and not citizens on the streets.

I agree, though I think the politics benefit Democrats more - in the short term.

Problem for all these Dems is that people aren't going to forget who put them out of work, etc.

The Federal recommendation to reopen is 14 days of cases declining. Not sure how many States fall into this category.

I don't know about all that, but the governor flat said no sales of stuff like that. There tons of pictures floating around of aisles that were taped off. I'm not making this up. So you can't buy it in person, but you sure can buy your lottery tickets in person... makes a whole lot of sense.

Many people do help their neighbors. That's what neighbors and local communities are for. You know how our federal government works. Do you really think it's the best idea to give them more money and more power over the people?

I wasn’t implying you were. Unlike most here I don’t have the answer so I will defer to the scientific experts . They seem to agree on the fastest way to get this under control

From what I've witnessed over the last few weeks, none of the experts seem to agree on anything.

What we have now is broken . The major political parties are just different sides of the same coin. They already have all relevant power over the people. If you think you own your home try not paying property tax . Something has to give . People need to be valued more than corporate profits

It may not be the China virus, but at the very least they were horribly dishonest and in my opinion should pay millions in restitution

Problem is that the answer lies somewhere in the middle and not enough people want to be in the middle anymore, it's extreme one way or the other.

It’s an easy thing to do. Just say you’re a working class white male who pays his mortgage on time and she’ll lose it.

Because Trump has given the media far more ammunition to work with than any other President in history, obviously. He can't control his mouth. You know that.

I agree they were less than forthcoming and I agree they should be held responsible . Reality says they will never admit guilt or offer any sort of restitution

*Data during this period are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction, age, and cause of death.

This article is from Forbes and says the number of Americans without a retirement program is close to 25%. That means 75% of Americans do have retirement programs which are heavily influenced by the rise and fall of the stock market.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmc.../#781fc7473ebf
Come on now, let's look at the whole picture.

Implying for a moment that 75% of people are involved "retirement programs which are heavily influenced by the rise and fall of the stock market" is short-sighted.

The numbers from that article put an average of $90,000 per person into these retirement accounts like employer matched 401ks. The largest percentages of involvement are (unsurprisingly) the 60+ demographic. Why? We need to understand that fewer companies are offering matching 401k programs and those that do match are often matching smaller percentages than they were decades ago.

Selling that $90,000 average as influential or impactful is disingenuous. It may be enough for people to feel like they're part of it, but they are standing outside and just hoping for a bit of crust to come off of the 1%'s beef wellington.

It is simple. The fewer people that get a good look at Biden, the better off he is. He is a mess.

Similar to John Kerry v. Bush in '04. If his advisors would have just put him on a lockdown, he would likely have won. I think the same thing happened with Hillary too. Every time she got done screeching her way through a speech, Trumps numbers increased.

8 weeks? Gtfoh. You're not lagging two months worth of data.
