I think they both have a lot of potential but very different styles. Foden is more in the David Silva / Iniesta role whereas Vinicius Jr is more a left winger in the style of a young Ronaldo. I think Foden might be the safer choice from a football point of view but from a hobby point of view the ceiling on central midfielders isn't as high as left wingers if they succeed.

Great perspective. I think Foden is a terrific asset to any team he will be a part of, but Vinicius has that IT factor the hobby loves. For me, Vinicius is a strong buy at this point with his talent, club, and country.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the pricing as more stuff gets sent in for grading. I still think the Topps Chrome and Select will be the main ones to own over the Prizm but you can see how well the Prizm market carries over from basketball thus the crazy pricing for his Silvers.

Would love to hear others thoughts

Thought I would bump this up as we've had some new sales:

* PSA 10 Prizm Silver set a new high last night and sold for $999 (now up to 34 PSA 10's on the POP report)

* Still no PSA 10 on the POP report for the Select Silver.

* Only 1 PSA 10 Topps Chrome Refractor up on Ebay and wouldn't be surprised to see it sell in the $900-$1000 range (still only 7 PSA 10's).

Can this trend continue? Definitely been fun watching these prices soar over the past few months

You get 1 base field level per box on average and there are 100 field level cards so I would say no. Terrible odds.

I bought out the entire listed stock of 4 cases on BO for $575 in January and they just kept upping the price and listing 1 at a time from there and here we are at $3k a few months later.

I've gotten in at the 874, 1100 and 1300 range and am sitting on quite a few cases. This stuff is gold, still a bargain at 3k in my opinion

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing as well as possible and staying safe and healthy!

I have been considering collecting soccer for a while now but I have never had the time to really research it but with the quarantine I have more time on my hands!

Could anyone provide any good resources to read to get a better understanding of the market? Everything I have read makes it seem like it is pretty unique compared to basketball and baseball.

I have been collecting cards for 43 years (i.e. since 1977).

IMHO opinion, pretty much everything related to active players is overpriced, especially the "hot" young players like Mbappe, Sancho, etc.

To put things in perspective, you can get on-card Pele autos for less than $300, and sticker Pele autos for less than $200.

Now ask yourself why people are paying 3-4x that for autos of Messi and CR7?

Then ask yourself why people are playing 2-3x that for autos of unproven young players like Mbappe and Sancho?

Wait until Messi & CR7 retire in a few years, and you'll be able to get their autos for half of what they're selling for now.

Because most collectors are much more caught up in what might be, rather than what has been. Same as it ever was.

Autos are boring.

Look at the market around you. Sports cards are on fire, and soccer is just getting off the ground.
