Default Korean Baseball thread

So, many questions.

Did they start playing some no-fan games that ‘count’ yet? Or are they still warming up with a little more ‘Spring Training’ ?

If they are playing live games by now, are they trying day games or night games or both?

What time would those be, in US East Coast time zone?

And the big one - any chance we can watch these games via this here Internet deal?

Break out your Casey Kelly cards. Someone in the KBO who has Topps releases will get hot, and sales will skyrocket due to scarcity of live sport.

I'm hoping draftkings or fanduel will offer contests for these games

They haven't started yet. May 5th is when it will begin.

Night games in Korea would be very early in the morning on the East Coast. 13 hours ahead.

Thanks, JPWisco. I love the Finlandia part of da Wisco.

I forgot the real big question - do they have baseball cards?

I read a couple blogs about Japanese baseball cards sometimes, but no idea if Korea makes cards.

Yes, there are Korean cards but I know next to nothing about them other than that they exist.

ESPN is in the process of negotiating rights for some KBO games. Time zone difference sucks though. I don't think I would watch many games live since evening games would be literally in the middle of the night Pacific time. Hope they have some day games since those would be 9 or 10 pm PT.
I caught a few innings of the CPBL late at night on Saturday. The quality of play was equivalent to A+/AA. I hear the KBO is a notch above, probably AA/AAA with some vaguely familiar former big leaguers sprinkled on each team.

There are Korean cards. The main company is called SCC. But the quality of the cards and the variation/design/etc are all subpar. Also all autos are sticker.
Still it is somewhat popular among KBO fans.

I didn't realize they were still in "spring training" but I've watched the games live on the east coast as I've started my work day, or at least listened to it in the background. It was great.
