I don't think some people realize that the U.S. is testing more people than any other country has AND is actually reporting accurate numbers. Due to that, we are obviously going to have a higher number or cases, which results in a higher number of deaths. Personally, instead of looking at the number of deaths, I prefer to look at the % of deaths in comparison to both the number of positive cases and overall population. Maybe that is just me. Also, 40% of the deaths have occurred in New York. Obviously deaths are incredibly unfortunate and sad, but when people exclaim "We now have 2000 deaths!!!!", that just rubs me the wrong way personally. We have also had over 3000 recoveries, but nobody seems to mention that. We have had a higher percentage of recoveries than we have deaths right now (obviously we have a bunch of cases that haven't resulted in anything, but when deaths rise, so do recoveries).

Proud of what Ohio seems to be doing. Looks like we are really starting to see a true flattening of the curve here in the state. It's been a rough and scary few weeks but I really hope we continue down this path and we see better and better news in the days and weeks to come.

I’m sure a couple states are. The Shelter In Place and social distancing are working. It just so happens, unfortunaty but logically, that states with cities with high density populations are seeing the most cases/deaths. NY, Florida, Cali etc

I tend to agree with this and think Governor DeWine and Dr. Acton have done a very impressive job. I do wonder where some of the projections came from, though: two weeks ago, she estimated that 100k Ohioans were infected. I know confirmed numbers aren't accurate due to a lack of testing, but two weeks later, to have 1400 confirmed cases, ~300 hospitalizations, and 25 deaths state-wide doesn't align with the doom & gloom estimate. She also estimated a peak of now 8-10k new infections a day at a peak (in mid-May), which seems almost impossible based on testing numbers (and is later than most other projected peaks I've seen).

It's also her job to plan for the worst as the state Director of Health, so understandable. They're also starting to mobilize the convention center in Columbus if needed for extra hospital beds.

I actually left my house for the first time in 12 days, Mississippi has lax rules about stay indoors but here is what made me sick. The Walmart I went to has a nail salon and it was open and crowded, are nails really a necessity in a time of a pandemic. It is not hard to figure out why this virus will be around longer than it should be.
