I did a little more research on it, it has yet to be verified. It was also discredited by Dr. Birx today, saying no hospital is near this sort of level of triage. Even NYC has 1000-2000 ventilators still unused.

Unfortunately it's been confirmed that this is an actual draft of the letter right now, they're saying they haven't had to enact it yet. However when the same hospital system is saying they are at capacity with ventilators and ICU beds at 2 of their hospitals in the area (including the one less than 2 miles from where my parents live), they clearly are getting it ready as they feel it very well may be necessary soon.

Our government and hospitals appear to be woefully unprepared for this in terms of resources and supplies. I'm hoping this is the final wave of infection but if it's not we all need to stick together and try to make a difference.

I didn't laugh at the letter, I laughed because a joke was made about your tendency to be rather wordy (which has come up several times). Nothing more so, don't take it as more than that. Case in point, it took you 200 words to tell me to f off.

Seriously though, from a mental health aspect, you'd be best to log off social media a bit (or at least the forum) and do something else to take your mind off things. Good luck.

As for the letter, it is a worst case scenario plan. All sorts of things have worst case scenarios planned out (even before this virus). Can't take every worst case contigency plan as that it will happen or is about to happen. You'll drive yourself crazy.

First of all, with or without social media, I have a 63 year old mother with Asthma and a 66 year old father with 2 stents in his heart, my concern for them will not be going away any time soon (in addition to my Aunt with MS just miles from the New Rochelle outbreak center).

And yes, I know the letter is worst case scenario planning, but the hospitals in our area have been saying for days now how close they are to full capacity and spread and hospitalizations in Michigan have been growing at a very fast rate. And when that was brought up last night we still get the same old tired responses in here of fear mongering and Fake News, it's a joke that people can seriously say that stuff still, it's not propaganda, it's what's actually happening right now.

Be upset with the CNN's of the world if you want, but to disregard what local hospitals are saying and local news is reporting is just beyond frustrating to hear. I'm happy for those that live in areas that aren't that badly hit yet or have small populations and thus likely won't deal with the overcrowding issue.

But many of us do not live in those areas, so to see them making light of the situations that are currently happening in our cities (and literally about 1.5 miles from my parent's home) is just absurdly pathetic and sad.

My parents are 81 and 84. The only thing you can do is protect them. Mine are taking this lightly. To me it seems like they are accepting their fate which at this point is ok with me considering they are God fearing people. I visit them now in their backyard and keep my distance. Unfortunately I have family that doesn't feel the same way and are entering the house. THis virus is here to stay. What options do I have?

I don’t always agree with you but that tweet was a bunch of crap. The death certificate goes from the funeral home to the signing physician back to the funeral home. Sometimes the coroner’s office calls the doctor first, sometimes they don’t . No where in this process is the 20 year army nurse involved.
One caveat to this is that in about half the states a nurse practitioner can sign a death certificate. However, the description 20 year army nurse isn’t typically a nurse practitioner.
