The card market has definitely taking a drop lately. I won a Zion Auto #/5 BGS 9 /10 for less than $800! Same exact card sold for $4400 a month and a half ago. Now granted the comps are realistically $1600-$2000, it is still an incredible deal.

Also, I won an auction from PWCC. This is the first time I have EVER won an auction with PWCC. I am a cheapskate, so I usually don't even come close to winning on these items. I ended up winning a Buddy Hield NT RPA #/99 BGS for $280. I've never seen it less than $350 before.

Agree with this completely. Look at the Kobe Z-Force BGS 9 RCs from last night. Most of them ended with eerily similar bids.

Say what you want about shill bidding, but I am not sure ONE person wanted to win most of those cards. Also not sure about several bidders deciding they all want to pay the exact same maximum bid for all of those cards.

Painful to see the "anchor card" of 2020 Optic, losing this much value, in just one week!! And if I'm being honest, I think that most prices will continue to TANK before they stabilize, and ultimately...rebound/recover! I will not be one of those who "caves" to the panic. You can (literally!) bury me with my cards before I resort to a selloff!

BGS 9.5 from ebay regular - $1185 - 03/18/20

BGS 9.5 from PWCC - $1,102.99 - 03/23/20

BGS 9.5 from Probstein - $960.10 - 03/24/20

*note - not, anomalies! Check completed, and this downward-trend has progressed over the last 10+ days or so.

When there's posts on facebook about whether to invest in Lebron or Zion / Luka

Many chime in to say Luka and Zion, citing that they have a bigger ceiling to grow in value ..

I think this global shock demonstrates why going for rare Lebron is the ultimate combination of safety and growth.

and No - I'm not talking about stacking up on 7k PSA 10 Chrome bases, that was a few week spike, with today's value still higher than 2 months ago

But things like the Ultimate, Xfractor, Sp Authentic demonstrated their stability with the latest PWCC auctions. I was surprised how well they did. Was hoping for some discounts

This might sound dumb, but I would be less inclined to bid on the Probstein one because of the name plaque being crooked in the case. Not sure what the value decrease would be, but I would think it's some.

I prefer Ben Bernankes opinion from today, as you all know he is of course the former Fed Chair during the financial crisis and a very passionate historian on the Great Depression, and he said this is no depression, a sharp recession followed by a relatively quick recovery. Hope he’s right!

Let's take our grievances to China.

Rare cards, up. Rare comics, up. I sold a G Leaguer rare card with a offer. And sold 1 comic book with a special label (only 1 on eBay) the highest offer ever on a similar book. No offers on mass produced cards, non-numbered.

A lot of stuff is down right now. Buying is down across the board. I've sold some stuff but yeah it's about 1/3 down from a month ago. The stimulus package will help prop the market up for awhile. From what i understand for some people they'll be making out better than if they were working. Might see a small uptick in sales activity soon.

Based on what I've been watching, the premium stuff is the same, maybe 5-10% down in some instances. However, I've also seen some premium stuff sell HIGHER as well, with the stipulation that these were probably undervalued in the first place. Everything else, especially base psa 10 stuff is getting hit hard, in some cases 30-40% but as many others mentioned already, these were due for a major correction and this whole ordeal just accelerated that.

I have also heard this. Because the dip is not caused by an economic issue (like in 2008) but rather a health issue, the theory is the recovery will be quick. We shall see!

I still struggle to see a lot of these price dips y'all are talking about. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong cards. But I'm not seeing it on the low-mid end, commonly available crowd.

I can't tell you about the market overall, but I can tell you my situation. Before the coronavirus, I felt that all the prices in the hobby were crazy high and I couldn't justify spending that kind of money for stuff that is/was a hobby. Now that there is the coronavirus, I feel better not spending money on "discretionary" stuff like basketball cards. Frankly, I'd just rather have the cash right now. I'm not liquidating my collection or selling any of my sealed wax, but I'm not buying anything new.

Now, as to what I think is going to happen. I suspect that a lot of the legitimate volume in the hobby will be way lower than before. People with money looking for deals will be battling with entrenched merchants trying to keep sales records high and not wanting to take losses or perceived losses. Right now it's just a bump in the road, but I suspect the lower volume is going to last all year. I just don't think the money is going to be there. There was a record amount of unemployment claims filed this week (3 million). Even if people aren't directly effected, they may have a spouse, child, or parent that is effected.

At least for me, it's been a really annoying "hobby" the last 1-2 years, and I'm kind of glad to have a good excuse to put everything on freeze. Curious to see who buys all this stuff in hard times.

Everything I am bidding on, prices have gone up since the Corona. I was expecting lower prices, but that is just the opposite.

Same, everything I am bidding on is going up. But I am not wasting my money on zion/ja/luka like the rest of the world. Those prices were coming down with/without the C19.

It’s no secret here that I LOVE the Hoops SP Arriving Now Gold Holo foil Zion cards.

About a month ago I could grab one for about 29-35. Now they’re going from 85-130ish and some more based on grading.

Literally in 3 weeks the prices have more than doubled. Head scratcher for sure but maybe bc people see it as an attainable SP Zion rookie.

Ya sooo my chase has gotten pricier....vs cheaper... oh well

I’ve been having success with selling off my Hoops Antetokounmpo’s. They have been going for around $100-$120..was able to grab mine when they were cheaper
