I'll decide in June. Wait and see how this all shakes out.

By the time the National rolls around, most everyone would’ve been infected anyway.

So, either you’d be dead or have built up a resistance from having fought it off. Or a vaccine would have been developed by that time.

There have been cases in the tropical parts of Asia, so there's a little bit of evidence already that summer won't kill it.

I think the thing the National has going for it is time. I simply can't imagine the American economy being shut down for four months. If you look to China it took them what, 3-4 weeks to get it under control? Italy is basically closed for that amount of time. It may take us a little longer (we have/expect more personal freedom), but it's basically here already. I say the health risk is contained by the end of April, even with the lack of effort so far.

If I'm sick, I won't go.

If I'm well, I will go.

The Governor of the state of Washington just announced that all gatherings of 250 people or more are now banned. This includes conventions, concerts, faith-based gatherings, trade shows and sporting events.

I would imagine that many other states will soon follow suit.

I read about this and while I understand trying to be cautious, what doesn't make sense about this is they are still having school. Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually schools have way more than 250 people, right?

Okay.. I wanted to give everyone an update with the Coronavirus craze. I just got home from work this morning and I have to admit that this Coronavirus thing is serious. I worked last night and the night before (12 hour shifts) and I have witnessed the Coronavirus spread a lot faster than I thought in our hospital. Our emergency room is also getting more Coronavirus patients. It is much worse than your typical “flu”.

Yes, if you’re younger than 65 years old, your chances of surviving it is good.. BUT, I have witnessed people in between 30-45 get so sick, they had to get intubated (breathing tube down into your lungs connected to a ventilator while you’re out to sleep/sedated) because they couldn’t breathe well. The healthcare world is also running out of protective gear like proper N95 masks and proper longer gloves.

I am hoping that the warmer weather coming soon will help decrease the spread of this horrible virus. There is a trial medication being used on these patients, if the patient approves.. but it is still unsure what the long term effect will have to the patient and I also heard the medication is very hard on your liver.

I came home from work this morning extremely exhausted and sad.

I can't believe people were telling you to not be "that guy" when you went out with gloves on, you should have been commended for your precaution. Hope things get better for you and your coworkers and patients.

Concert is already postponed indefinitely. They said they'd honor the tickets in the future though.

If we don't have this thing figured out by National time, our cards/collectibles will be on-par with dirt, in the overall scheme of importance. That said,...presuming that life does go back to [relative] normalcy, I will CERTAINLY go forth with my intentions of attending, The National. For starters, it's only 40 minutes from my house, and secondly...having never attended,...what a better time to do so, then now...after being away from the hobby for nearly a decade (admittedly; bitten by the Zion-mania, bug!)!

So to summarize; ABSOLUTELY intend on attending!

Agreed. It's not about the mortality rate or the number of people who get it compared to the average seasonal flu. It's about how our healthcare system is completely unprepared to handle the overwhelming number of cases they are seeing. I have a number of friends who work in the field of healthcare and they are saying this is the worst thing they have ever experienced and we aren't even at the peak yet in terms of cases being seen. This is about helping our medical facilities from being overwhelmed and saving as many lives as we can. But, I feel like this commentary is best saved for the thread in a different section of Blowout.

As for The National, I still plan to attend. August is a long, long time from now. As someone else said, if we're still in this mess by August, the show will be the last thing on my mind.

I hate to have even write this but I don't believe the 2020 National is going to take place. I just don't see really how at this point. It would be completely irresponsible as a society to even let such a thing take place - and this is coming from someone who already purchased their flight and booked my hotel. Everything else is being cancelled and I just don't see this being controlled or contained by August. Especially when I am seeing videos of "coronavirus parties", people intentionally sneezing and coughing on produce/foods intentionally. Folks intentionally scratching their privates and then running their hands on all the elevator buttons. Scumbag people licking deodorant sticks and anything else for more social media likes. Its a complete mess. The only thing that can put all this to be is simply a vaccine. Personally, I find my health and safety more important than cards.
