Paging JMSCOGGIN!
Sorry, it's been a pretty rough few weeks and cards were the least of my concerns. Thanks for carrying the flag though, I really do love this thread and those of you that love it too.

I can't believe that I missed posting the final HOF'er, especially since it was my very first HOF autograph. When I was in 6th grade, one of my teachers was Yount's aunt. She said that if any of us wanted his autograph to give her a card and she would get them signed. I did so and waited patiently, for a day, a week and then a month but eventually forgot about it as a month turned into many, many months. I understood though, he was still playing at that time, yes, I'm old.

About midway through 8th grade she called me to her room and handed me my card back. I had forgotten all about it by that time and it was so cool. I still remember how strange it was to have an autograph on a card, it was an unheard of thing back in that time where I lived. In any event, a quick memory turned into a sort of quick story. No, I sadly don't have that card anymore and don't recall what I would have done with it.

I do have this one. No cool story or personal memory behind it but still a good looking card. ;

Awesome story! And nice card!

Here's a Yount sketch card I drew for Topps' 2018 Series 1 Baseball set:

All good brother. It was the first time I was able to get on in a while- I do love the thread when I do get to check it out!

Hope things are looking up with whatever you have going on my man. God Bless!

Unfortunately my father passed. In the last two years I have lost my mother in-law, father in-law, brother in-law, brother, grandfather and father. My sister has cancer and is on year five of a 3 year terminal diagnosis so her borrowed time can come due any day. Getting old is a bitch, I'm tired of losing loved ones. Sorry for the negativity but sometimes it's good to vent a bit. Thank you for your concern.

We did it. It took a lot longer than I had ever imagined but we made it through the entire group of HOF'ers.

I could have put this post with my last post but didn't want to pair it with such a bummer of a topic. Congratulations all, we made it through the entire MLB HOF. It took us 1,869 days and 4,274 posts were made.

When I created the thread I didn't have the slightest clue that it would have had the run that it did. There have been ups and downs, periods of heavy activity and periods of no activity. Participants have moved on or been banned and we've had many new faces and friends join in.

I feel that we've established a bit of a brotherhood and love that we share a common goal but many different paths of getting there. I'm going to keep this thing going for as long as there is interest. For any lurkers, don't be intimidated, please chime in and share any HOF items you may have or even ones that you are chasing.

Who knows what the thread will bring from here but I'm interested to find out.

I feel like we have formed a brotherhood here; you guys are basically the only people I talk to on blowout. I also know Bill (whyconform) and Mike (Moyni) from over on Youtube fairly well too.

Sorry to hear about your father. I can't imagine what that is like.

Thanks for doing this again Jarod (and for doing it in the first place). I went from a long-time lurker in this thread, to someone who got bit by the bug because of all of the people that post their awesome stuff here. While my new HoF RC and HoF Autos projects are relatively small compared to a lot of the people here, I'm happy with my progress so far: 94 RCs and 33 Autos.

I've been collecting for 3 years (after a long not-since-childhood-hiatus like so many of us), and my HoF projects have really helped me figure out "how" I want to collect.

Thank you to everyone. I hope to be able to participate a lot more this time around

Hank is one of those guys where I go back and forth between "he seems like he has a lot of autos available, they should be relatively cheap" and "dude is the King, of course they are higher priced!"

While it is true he signs for a lot of sets, they are always low numbered serials - so they are actually pretty rare. I have neither his RC nor an auto, but an auto is definitely higher on my "next to get" list. And as morbid as it sounds, it will be easier to do before he passes away.

I'm glad that you came out of the shadows. HOF collecting is awesome and relatively safe as an investment. The only downside is that it is almost impossible to complete if not entirely impossible. That's ok though, I'm going to keep chipping away and I'm glad that you are too.

Hank is an inner circle HOF'er, it amazes me that his stuff is so cheap. Ruth has a lot of autos too but try finding one for under $150 like you can with Aaron. If you are looking to get an auto and an RC I'd advise you to do it sooner rather than later. While I agree that it may be a tad morbid, I think his prices will shoot up and stay up once he passes. Mays is another one in that category.

Very cool my man, I'm glad you've joined us! HOF is the way to go!

Here are some stats of mine as of now:

HOF RCs: 71
HOF Autos: 107
HOF Auto'd Baseballs: 52
HOF Bobbleheads: 21

This, along with my milestone club Members and all my vintage sets I see as a lifetime project. Good thing I'm still fairly young haha!

Jarod, I'm sorry to hear about the losses

I trust we can all be good citizens and be safe, and not contribute to the hysteria. Remember those who could be vulnerable to this. A few close family members come to mind.

Fortunately, if we are all stuck at home, as collectors, we have our cards and items to look at/organize/etc. For me, more YouTube content.

Thanks for all who contributed along the way.....some great collections out there, and nice pieces altogether. I think we did encourage a few to get into this niche collecting too, which is awesome.

Stay safe!
Bill

Thank you sir and I agree with all of your sentiments. We're in interesting times for sure but it's nice to have a hobby that can be enjoyed even if quaranteeing as well as having an outlet to discuss said hobby with fellow junkies, err ... connoisseurs of rare memorabilia.

We should formally post each of the new members that were inducted since we began. Not every HOFer has had their day.

The current idea is to run through the list alphabetically like was done the first time. If new members have been elected by the time their slot comes up, they will get their day. Were you recommending something different? I'm open to any suggestions. Maybe we change it up a bit and post a bit of biography? I've always been a fan of your "did you knows".

Roberto Alomar

Roberto Alomar Velázquez
Inducted to the Hall of Fame in: 2011
Primary team: Toronto Blue Jays
Primary position: 2nd Baseman

Roberto "Robbie" Alomar Velázquez is regarded as one of the greatest second basemen and all-around players of all time. During his career, the 12-time All-Star won more Gold Glove Awards for his defense (10) than any other second baseman in baseball history, in addition to winning four Silver Slugger Awards for his hitting. Among second basemen, he ranks third in games played (2,320), fifth in stolen bases (474), sixth in plate appearances (10,400), seventh in doubles (504) and assists (6,524), and eighth in hits (2,724), runs (1,508), at bats (9,073), and double plays turned (1,407). In 2011, Alomar was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Hall of Fame member to be depicted as a Blue Jays player on his plaque.[5]

A switch hitter, Alomar finished his career with a .300 batting average; he is the Blue Jays' franchise record holder for career batting average. Shortly after his 2011 Hall of Fame induction, the Blue Jays retired his number 12. He currently serves as a special assistant to the Blue Jays organization. - Wikipedia

I just meant doing a formal day for each HOFer inducted since we started. Kind of an Appendix to the last run. We first posted Aaron on 2/17/17. Since that was posted, these guys were inducted:
2020 Derek Jeter
2020 Marvin Miller
2020 Ted Simmons
2020 Larry Walker
2019 Harold Baines
2019 Roy Halladay
2019 Edgar Martinez
2019 Mike Mussina
2019 Mariano Rivera
2019 Lee Smith
2018 Vladimir Guerrero
2018 Trevor Hoffman
2018 Chipper Jones
2018 Jack Morris
2018 Jim Thome
2018 Alan Trammell

Some of them did get their day as their last name was far enough out that we hadn’t gotten to their letter before they were enshrined. These guys did not:

2020 Derek Jeter
2020 Marvin Miller
2020 Ted Simmons
2020 Larry Walker
2019 Harold Baines
2019 Roy Halladay
2019 Edgar Martinez
2019 Mike Mussina
2018 Vladimir Guerrero

Baines, Guerrero, Halladay, Jeter, Martinez, Miller, Mussina, Simmons, Walker
