His initial instinct was correct. He made a mistake assuming that the China travel restriction would insulate us. He is doing quite well with it after a couple rough first days. I cannot imagine if the other option were in charge.

Well, if there's any good to come from this it will be that we're better prepared for the next time. If we had several hundred million N95 respirator masks and required everyone wore them we could probably squash this pretty quickly. But we don't so here we are. Pants down.

If you wait just 10 short months (to the day), pretty sure everything in this country will be free. Hang in there.

I mean Sanders is a sideshow and would you really want to place your faith in this guy:

Banning travel from overseas was one of the best things PRESIDENT Trump has done so far.

There's a bar here in Brookfield, Wisconsin called 'Saloon On Calhoun', the owner said screw it I'm staying open despite threats of fines...
"People are going to die," said Dayler. "We don't want anybody to die, but over 80% get a cough. We're killing our economy, and we're killing our entire industry over a cough."

We don't seem to learn well.

N95 Masks are not in shortage. People are sitting of stacks of 50-100 of them. Much like the fake shortage in toilet paper. Maybe 3M needs to make a billion of them and store them for the next flu virus.

We've basically already been doing what Newsom requested earlier tonight. People that can work from home, are already doing so... people who are essential to business that have to come in still do. My company still has production workers coming in and tomorrow won't be any different.

Unfortunately retail stores may take the brunt of this but most people are already staying in unless they have to go to the store. I don't see this changing much.

"After FOX6 broke the story Tuesday night, Brookfield police showed up and The Saloon agreed to shut down."

HA.

It's not retail that gets hit. It's things like construction and agriculture. Think of how many jobs are lost that you can't do from home, but that are also not consumer facing like these.

It's a massive # in a state that large.

It'll be interesting to see how many of them actually stay home from work though, the term "critical workers" can be twisted in many ways. Even with agriculture, you're producing food for the stores.

The numbers i read several days ago were that we had about 30 million in the U.S. You're right about the hoarding though there's no denying that. We still don't have enough though. I agree they should make a supply of about a billion of them. They're about $2 each with no gauging. You could buy a 10 pack for $22 before this. Much cheaper than shutting the entire country down.

Like PA, Newsome is going to put out a detailed list of jobs that qualify and don't qualify. Some agriculture keeps, a lot of shipping and trucking and retail in the food/gas industry.

All manufacturing goes, all construction goes. Manual labor jobs ... adios. Your roofers, plumbers, carpenters, landscapers etc.

No bueno.

If N95 masks make this all go away, lets do it. Great investment and super cheap compared to any other reaction we are taking.

Oh but they are in shortage. Just because people are sitting on stacks of 50-100 of them doesn't mean the right people have them in hand.

This is where panic buying comes into play. The wrong people are buying the masks, limiting the amount of masks needed for the right people to use them.

So congratulations to the hoarders. You have efficiently limited the number of masks on hand for the people who actually need them.

And the goal is to keep it that way, but if you run out of beds, ventilators, and staff, then what?

Just a few general thoughts today:

- Italy is a real brain teaser, you think they are leveling then they hit the media with a ton of cases. There still (and I think will be) the finger you point and say...what went wrong here.

-Its good to see US cases jumping 9as availability of test continues to grow), and deaths not rising. I was curious with about 50 deaths yesterday, what we would hit today. It was a little less as of this evening. Not seeing that death surge at least today is a very, very solid thing.

-Tom Wolfe (Governor PA), made his Monday 'recommendation' a mandate today that all essential business shut down. State Republicans, look to be setting up to challenge this should it go longer then the 10 or so remaining days. Government employees were issued notice that they will be re-evaluating this next Friday for an extension. If PA can overturn....red states will likely follow suit.

- More an interesting tidbit; My Wife, has been contacted by the government to start doing experimental work in her group lab on CV and while I won't be in the know on research, it is comforting to know that the government is pumping money into the research of this (and may prepare us more in the future). I am biased but I would consider my wife one of the top 20 or so female experimental bio-physicist in the world. Were based in NY...so them reaching out to her might have to do with the states influx of cases. Note; My opinions on CV do not reflect hers....lol...just wanted to add that disclaimer.

If there is no construction work, then I am 100% dead.
I work in a company that does advertising for construction projects and bids.
