There is absolutely no reason why you should pay the exact same price for a unit as the person buying volume. There is no law that states this either. You were given every opportunity to purchase this product at different price levels. You chose not to. Should you have been forced to buy it?
There might even be fine print in the panini dutch auction format that allows them to do this

Some may have called it illegal, but it's not. It's just terrible business practice and PR.

Who do you guys think has been buying these dutch auction boxes? It's the breakers and the distributors. They can't let prices fall too low or the boxes of regular NT they are trying to sell for over $1k nosedive in value. My guess is less than 100 boxes today sold to people that aren't in the breaker or distributor arena.

Maybe Panini doesn't risk legal exposure if they have a side deal on these.

But if they tell people it might reach a certain price floor, and then have a side deal with distributors to sell boxes so the product never reaches that price floor, it just comes across very poorly to the consuming public.

I don't see how the rewards outweigh the risk in this case, especially if most of these "high-demand" products were going to sell out at some point anyway.

Can you imagine the public backlash if they do something like this with NT FOTL Basketball?

Even if true, it will never get out and even if it did Panini doesn't care. No one will stop buying. Panini dutch auctioned a Zion Instant card. They dutch auctioned hockey cards! They created false sense of interest in Optic Contenders FOTL Football saying there was too much traffic and put it back up the next day. It worked as the product sold out above the basement. This on the product that had the least interest of any dutch auction so far. They are selling Optic Basketball Blasters for 2.5's MSRP. Yes RETAIL BLASTERS. That you can buy cheaper from any seller on ebay. Panini knows no shame.

I'm sure Panini were also tired of all the people on blowout calling and crying about the bots. Well everyone calling and complaining paid off great! Way more money for Panini. Most regular joe's who want the product either can't get it, it's out of their price range, or you have to overpay. Panini's profits from Nov. of 2019 to now have gone up so much they are printing money. The only backlash they would care is if regular buyers stop buying. Which they won't. We may never see another non Dutch auction product again from Panini.

Probably more breakers and retailers then distributors. Distributors (mostly) have already sold their allocations of NT by now. The retailers and breakers have more interest in keeping the prices stable.

I’m fine with Panini getting it over hoarders and not boys. Either way I’m paying the same for it.

How are you paying the same for it? No one with a decent internet connection or a decent phone was getting shut out on everything. Maybe the last couple regular releases from basketball, but not football. And certainly not over the last 2 1/2 years on average. The difference was before the bots were getting most of it. But regular guys that got in like us there was still a good amount to be had and at good prices. Now it's the distributors, retailers, breakers getting all the product. The ones of us that can still afford to pay these prices are left to take a small amount and pay pretty much what you would have been paying on ebay from a reseller or a bot guy reselling.

At least we know the FOTL program is recession proof.

Just imagine all the new money pouring in from the Supreme bois when that 2k stimulus check comes in. My dreams of $350 Flawless boxes are tarnished.

If this sold before the corona virus hit America it would have sold out for at least $1500 a box. Congrats to those that got in at $1200 or less.

Why? There hasnt been a football product yet this year that has been hot fire. Pretty much everything has sold for close to the bottom out price. I mean I guess this was less than $300 away from bottom out price but Im surprised it went over a grand. I do think this years stuff is going to be a sleeper product since so many are saying its a weak class even though theres like 6 QB's from it that are starters.

I bought a case also. My thinking is you are quarnateed a RPA #/23 or #/3 every box. Thats a big difference from Hobby which is about the same price. If Murray takes off this could be Huge.

For now. I just heard companies are starting massive layoffs.

I dont know what to believe. The death rate seems to be minuscule but only with proper medical care and theres a risk our hospitals will be overrun. Not sure why our government is worried about stimulus and not adding hospital beds and making more medicine.

Was in jest.

Corona will be the least of the economy's worries in 6+ months. Bump and requote me on that a year from now for the lulz.

Just going to take a wild guess and say a good majority of the players in the mid-to-high-end market are the ones running up huge credit debt right now on their speculative investments.

There will be reaction in time. Haven't been on Ebay in awhile, but checked some random prices of stuff...most of the rc's of relevant, modern guys have dropped quite substantially from just a week or two ago (Gary V PSA10's notwithstanding).

Good points I'd only tried in basketball and was miffed I wasted my time.
