Scientists from CDC on tv interviews have also stated this is natural.
If this is in Nature, this is one of the 'Big 3" scientific journals in science research field (the others being Cell and Science). I'm sure it had to be peer reviewed or fast-tracked of some sort.

Good read, thanks for posting the link.

Default Please stop using the word "unprecedented"!

As Santa ana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

These are not “unprecendented” times so please don’t use that word anymore regarding the present pandemic. Here are the big pandemics that have swept the world and their death tolls:

25–50 million; 40% of population Europe, Egypt and West Asia
541–542 Plague of Justinian-Plague

75–200 million; 20–60% of European population Europe, Asia and North Africa
1331–1353 Black Death

5–15 million (80% of population) Mexico
1545–1548 Cocoliztli Epidemic of 1545–1548

up to 100,000,000 worldwide 1918–1920 Spanish flu (pandemic)

> 32,000,000 worldwide
(commenced in Congo Basin)
1920–present HIV/AIDS pandemic

To date, the Coronovirus has claimed 8,900. Keep it in perspective and lead forward with compassion for our populations’ fears but the courage not to feed them. This is quite like global warming when they say that is unprecedented. Reliable records show that weather history records only go back about 170 years, but science says this has happened 1000's of times before, yet the media and Greta have us all fearing for our lives.

Alot of distracting political nonsense currently circulating on social media about who said this and who said that regarding the Covid 19 pandemic. But the real question is - How will the Chinese Government be held accountable for their role in the pandemic? China has repeated the same mistakes from the SARS outbreak and that is the real concern. China could have acted to permanently shut down the ‘wet markets’ and quashed the Illegal Animal Trade in 2003 (inside their own borders) but didn’t. Dig deeper and there is disturbing obfuscation at the initial outbreak. The next zoonotic disease outbreak might be many times more deadly.

I mean the entire world is going to have to agree to pull all their supply chains out of China and leave them on their own. Other than flat out war (which that may cause anyway) I don’t see another way of “holding them accountable”

The main headline on CNN mentions "the government is now preparing for the pandemic to last up to 18 months or longer, a report says."

Why? There's no reason for this.

Why do you pay attention to it? Everyone knows the agendas that each network has and it is just business as usual on all of the networks.

But CNN peaks with 1 million people watching! That's pretty much the entire country!

To make a point to the people that are believing how bad this is. It's all media driven and they need to see it.

You aren't changing anyone's mind on a freakin' internet forum by stating the obvious.

How are you guys handling discussed but not yet planned travel? Meaning, I had separate trips discussed with my wife and dad for later in the year, but think it’s best to hold off scheduling indefinitely until we get the all clear.

I personally think the people not following quarantine will prolong this, and the majority of us will get sick of being in lockdown and start to go back to our normal lives sooner than we should. This doesn’t have to be something that takes months, but we’re too boneheaded to do it right.

Someone earlier posted a very informative scientific article: good read.

I suggest some folks read it
