You defended a contradiction by pointing out someone else's contradiction. Admitting that both sides are doing it. Typical logical fallacy, but you really didn't have any other way to come to his rescue.

Now, my question is relevant...When are we doing this again? How bad does the next disease need to look? What if it is this, Round 2, 6-24 months from now? |

Are we not seeing states close for 30 days. School districts closed for the rest of the school year? 2 weeks was soooo ... 2 weeks ago. We're on this train for a good long time.

His point seems to be "since you didn't listen to CNN one week ago, this thing will go on for months".

Covid19 has officially hit my household. Steam room is broke and they can’t come until next week to fix it so now I’m going to be infested with germs.

Hey silver lining.....IRS says 3 month tax payment deadline extension! It only counts for those who owe less than 1 million, I'll have to double check with my accountant to see if that's me...
![]() I ain't paying those a-holes until mid July. |

So sounds like about 104 died so far in USA
How many people died of the flu? How does that compare with the past 3-5 years? |

Would you say we made it AND by actions over the last week? I read it as letting life go on would have increased the deaths dramatically, but may not have crippled the economy for an indefinite amount of time.

At this point, it's the data our experts are working with. So, yes, if we would have started our proactive approach when the cases started to pop-up, then yes, we may be past these mandatory shut downs. Unfortunately, we will never know if that's a fact or not. The experts here will say we can't extrapolate data from other countries and apply it, while others will contest it's all we have to work with. The true issue comes down to which side of history you want to be on. The over reaction side who thinks we are going too far for too little, or the under reaction side that feels the data shows these actions were required based off what we had learned from other countries models.

People hunker down for 18 months? Ya.. That won't cause a complete breakdown of society.

We don't know whether or not the decision to kill the economy will have any meaningful impact on the first part. We don't even know if the first part is/was gonna be a thing. We sacrificed the economy to the Gods, in return for something that may or may not happen, at a rate that may or may not be abnormal. We may very well come out of this with just a tanked economy. That is out best outcome. But we may also come out of this with a tanked economy, and a deadly virus that killed hundreds of thousands of Americans in six months. So we may end up with the thing we didn't want no matter what.

Happy about this, I don't give them a penny until I absolutely have to. I would rather pay the underpayment penalty.
