No use wasting anymore time going back and forth given the fact that we will NEVER change either's mind.

That's really unfortunate you feel that way. UBI is inevitable. Shorter lifetimes might be a thing too.

Andrew Young's polling numbers say otherwise.

I mean, it was just spelled out for you.

As production goes up and labor costs go down, there is going to be a glut of goods never before seen on earth.

Like I said, with AI it’s inevitable. Tons of businesses could automate today and kick tons out of the workforce tomorrow. Then what?

Is that some sort of bizarre dig? UBI is coming whether you like it or not. I don't understand how any compassionate or logical person would be against it, but I do understand those people may appear to be in the minority.

I thought that was Andrew Yang. I guess that’s why he didn’t get any votes.

This is what I really hate. The inability for people to change their minds when presented with new information. So many people take a stance on something and say they will never change. That's incredibly sad and frustrating for the human race.

Everybody with a brain knows it’s inevitable.

What form it takes remains to be seen, but some type of basic income will be a necessity. Hell, THIS WHITE HOUSE is currently debating it as we’re on the forum.

UBI (and ideas like it) most certainly will happen, and sooner than most think and for reasons that many don't seem to understand.

It won't be out of laziness, lack of education or anything similar...the economy will no longer be able to sustain the job market. Every single job in history has been simplified exponentially, and the workforce continues to grow. More workers for less and less jobs, producing more and more goods.

It's not simply a matter of an economic downturn or some sort of industry shift...this is a wholesale, economic shift.

20 years ago, UBI and some form of universal healthcare seemed unnecessary, in less than 20 years...it will be the norm. People get caught up with the 'dirty word' notion of "socialism" instead of focusing on the reality.

Typical BO.
I bow out stating it's a waste of time going back and forth, admitting I'm not changing my mind. I didn't do that for any other reason than why waste each other's time? Followed soon with the immature Felicia meme, poked fun for typing a wrong last name, and accused of being brainless.
Nothing shown to me has proven anything. It can't be proven without it being tried with the actual numbers it would be used on. A small sample size just doesn't do it for me guys.
Lastly, if $1,000 a month would make such a difference, then why not up the ante and give everyone $100,000 a month?
Should work wonders right.

That figure screws all of us.
I also look at something like this like I do food stamps. Get those who really don't need or abuse them off the freebie rolls and we might be able to give those who do need help more help.
Plus, people are dumb. I can see a lot of people using that extra $1,000 a month on stupid sh*t rather than putting it to good use.

I totally understand the not wanting to waste someone's time arguing if you know you're not going to change your mind. I was only expressing sadness at the fact a lot of people won't allow their minds to be changed, even when presented with solid evidence. I get that you may not be convinced about UBI, but I think you would probably admit that you haven't looked into it too much as it's such a fantasy from your perspective. Again, I get that. It's not like I spend my time looking up a bunch of facts about economic policies that disinterest me.

I did want to say one thing though, if you're in a position where $1000 a month doesn't make a difference for you, you really should consider yourself lucky. For millions of people in this country, $1000 a month would make a HUGE difference in their lives. I understand that it might not make sense from your perspective, but I promise you that it would be a big deal for many people out there. Please don't take this post as an attack, it's not. I'm trying to put myself in your shoes and think about why you might feel the way you do about UBI.

First off thank you for being reasonable. I openly admit I'm a pretty sarcastic person and really need to practice what I preach. We all would be better off if before we hit the enter key we asked ourselves, would I say what I typed if we were face to face? I would hope not.

To be fair I haven't done much of any research on this subject. The astronomical numbers were enough to prevent me to want to.
What I have read is that the stipend would go to every American over the age of 18. That just doesn't make sense to me. Correct me if I'm wrong and if it would be limited to those under a certain income level. That would obviously make much more sense to me.
I'm also inclined to believe there should be some give and take involved. If a person is collecting aid why not make it mandatory that said person has to do some form of community service. Local hospitals, Veteran hospitals, daycare centers ect. all need help.
For the record I don't hate poor people and believe most on any form of assistance desperately need it. I also feel a lot of people abuse assistance programs. My thoughts are that if we could boot the abusers we could easily give those who are in need more assistance. Hence lifting them out of poverty rather than just float in poverty.
Lastly, I'm not a big government person and have little faith in most government run programs being ran efficiently.
Again, thanks for respecting my opinions.
