Doctors in Italy are having to choose who gets put on respirators (and similar machines) to have a chance at survival and choose who gets nothing and in turn have almost no shot at survival and then die.

That's not a guess, it's not a prediction, it's not a scenario, it is literally what is happening.

How is that okay? How is it okay for the same to potentially happen here?

Stop calling them respirators. You reveal the fact you are not in medicine. The are ventilators, and in most hospitals require respiratory therapists to run them at night, because I am too tired.

That is not been happening forever at the rate it is happening right now and in this way.

If you walk into a good hospital in this country with a problem the odds are unbelievably low for them to say, "sorry, we have the machines to help you but they're all used up" and if that is the case, the odds are they can transfer you to another hospital that can help.

That is not what is happening in Italy right now, they have X number of proper machines but Multiple X number of patients who need them.

And sorry for using "respirator" as opposed to "ventilator" but if that's what you're getting hung up on, then that's just sad as yea, I'm not doctor, but I'd be willing to bet everyone knows what is meant by that, you're the first person to ever say that in here.

So sure, I'll admit it then, I used the wrong medical term for the machine that can help people battling the virus, cool, it doesn't make everything else incorrect, far from it.

Again, I'm not just spouting off conspiracy theories, I'm just repeating what is going on there right now, how can you actually refute that?

When I look at experts predicting huge numbers, I see them taking advantage of the failsafe that the shutdown has provided. "See, I was right", vs. being low on death numbers, and having their own brand hurt.

I really hope this was just a statement and not an argument against concerns.

It's not about people not being okay, 97% of the people (if not more) who contract the virus will be okay.

And yes, some will die and that's unfortunate too.

But it's about not having people die due to hospital overcrowding that didn't need to happen, because that's not okay.
