you can arguably say he has been one of the most important things or people to ever be associated with that franchise for nearly 30 years.
yes he deserves special treatment, he has brought so much attention and money to that franchise.

Just speaking as probably the only Knicks fan on the boards - remember when Draymond Green was talking junk to Paul Pierce and he him with a "you thought you was kobe? they don't love you like that!" that's exactly how we all feel about Spike Lee. It's cool that he's around, but if he wasn't anymore no one would be heartbroken.

You've probably never managed to leave whatever flyover state you live in, but you would be extremely hard pressed to walk around new york and find anyone that actually cares about Spike Lee. This is just a fact. The Knicks PR department handled it as poorly as possible and that's a whole other issue but we're used to them doing this at this point.

From some of what I read spike was more upset that he wasn’t told about the change before hand. It just kinda happened. He said had he been told in advance he couldn’t use that elevator anymore he would have been ok with it.

What I don’t get is why wouldn’t and employee elevator be set up that you need an employee pass or something to even use it

Spike probably a bit at fault but again with Dolan/Knicks it's about image. Regardless even if Spike is in the wrong, the Knicks just find ways to make themselves look bad and make themselves appear to be a clown show

1 i am NOT a wizards fan. i am a Troy Brown jr fan cause i know him.
2. i was born in new york and lived there for 20 years and have been to numerous games at the garden. my favorite player is john starks and i have tons of 90s knicks cards.

When you've dedicated your life to supporting a professional sports team, spent millions of dollars and countless hours of your life you deserve special treatment. I don't care whether you like Spike as a person or his politics or not but he's the essentially the face of the Knicks fan base. What the Knicks and Dolan did was 100% wrong, but again they don't do anything right so this is par for the course

Whether he was "wrong" or not doesn't matter. He has every right to be angry and Dolan is just another out-of-touch entitled dude who got daddies money. He wants everyone to bow down to him and stroke his ego.

FWIW I believe Spikes account of what happened. If they had a "new policy" why not just tell him before hand? I also have no doubt that Dolan harassed him because he does it with anyone who doesn't bow down to him.

I want to like the Knicks, I lived in NY for several years and my good friends are all Knicks fans. There is no hope in sight for this franchise, it's even worse than the Browns.

I'll root for the success of the team but I will never spend 1 dime on anything Knicks because of Dolan.

Why do some people on BO have to be so ignorant. Like really? You give card collectors a terrible name. Tara Reid is not synonymous with the Eagles, like Spike Lee is with the Knicks.
