You can all rest easy now knowing that Mike Pence has been placed in charge of the CV response.

Let’s give it a cooler new name and see if people will fear it as much as the Coronavirus. Let’s make a contest out of it, rename the flu and whoever comes up with the most fearsome name wins something.

They understand the flu better and how to treat it including in a hospital setting.

They do not understand enough about this virus yet is the issue, plain and simple.

BudLightvirus. It's the most popular beer in the US. So we need to represent! Merica!

It all has to do with the fatality rate. If the regular flu had the same fatality rate as the coronavirus the country would be at a stand still right now.

As a parent of two elementary school children and one child in daycare, that is horrifying.

Like an unplanned Summer break.

Just went to Mickey D for some McMuffin and 5 hashbrowns and a few people are coughing.

I went down faster than a Filipino prostitute on Fleet Week. It was safer being low and near the ground, I was crouch walking out the door.

Someone at Buzzfeed has to be making a listicle right now about the most unfortunate brand names:

1. Corona beer ~ Coronavirus outbreak

2. The ISIS spy agency from the show Archer ~ ISIS the Islamic State

3. Seth Rogen’s “The Interview” ~ The movie getting banned as tensions with North Korea ratcheted up

4. Ben Stiller’s “Neighborhood Watch” ~ The Trayvon Martin controversy happening shortly before it opened

That’s just off the top of my head.

Does the Asian Pass cover all of Asia/Oceania? My Korean roommate sure thought so. He didn't hold back on anyone west of Hawaii.

I remember that ads for the movie Body Parts were pulled in Milwaukee because those ads were running right when Dahmer was arrested.

They are opening back up March 15th according to every reporting source except for their own website. The website does say tentatively April, so they may have changed their mind and just not updated their site.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that swine flu infected nearly 61 million people in the United States and caused 12,469 deaths.

Remember how much more hysterical folks were in 2009?

Yeah, me neither.

Ok. Just had grand rounds by our lead team. I asked what their opinion was on believing the China numbers. They said:

1. WHO was allowed in to Wuhan yesterday (or today) and there does appear to be improvement.
2. The case incidence is plateauing.
3. The true number of cases is certainly much higher, composed of mild or even asymptomatic cases.

This sucks but a few major houses weren't showing up anyways, maybe this allows for a better show in January.

I was just about to post something similar to this. I heard some numbers yesterday that the Swine Flu affected 1 Billion people worldwide back in 2009 and hundreds of thousands died in the first 12 months. Those numbers blow the Coronavirus numbers out of the water right now. I get the concern is it spreading when there isn't knowledge yet of curing people, but this thing has been massively blown up the last few weeks specifically, yet the Swine Flu was worse and I don't remember it nearly causing this much tension and chaos.
