Wyoming has the least amount of population out of the 50 states and if you've ever driven through there you would know why. Alabama would be my second pick due to being last in education and in the bottom 5 for crime and economy.

Only reason I’ll chime in and mention Alabama (not saying it’s the worst state) is because I just got back from there. Your reasons are spot on. There is some nice scenery depending where you go but whoopie fizz

Live in Illinois, can confirm - sucks. Terrible weather, horrible taxes - particularly in Chicago. High crime. Only bright spot is the food. Nothing beats it.

Ohio is pretty bad, but at least its cheap. Same goes for Indiana. Michigan has some really beautiful spots.

Nebraska is probably the most boring state I've ever been to.

I wasn't thinking about anything, and then it hit me that Montana was really just a leg (with the round part just the way you would expect).
It started with a feeling that ended in a leg and it seemed to me Montana was a leg.

That post reminds me of Tony Montana and the leg scene.

In a lot of boring states with boring drives it doesn’t cost you anything to partake in the driving.

Then there’s Illinois. Take your tolls and shove them.

I was about to post those two same cities/areas for why the state gets a bad rap. Living here my whole life, I can tell you that those two taint the whole state.

That's the movie I was watching when it hit me that Montana was really just a leg, and then just like that it all fell into place.
I don't think I can stand any longer in this bed since I figured out Montana was a leg.

As for as just flat out boring and drab.. it's a tie between Iowa and Nebraska.

I left Illinois for California and while the cost of living sucks in both.. at least California is way better place to live. There's no way I'm going to leave here now.

Maryland. Very high taxes and cost of living, very high crime, not just Baltimore, horrible traffic, idiot and corrupt politicians, spend 16k per student, and many schools dont have toilet paper or air conditioning etc.

First two happen everywhere

3: Dont fall asleep on the train and watch your surroundings, especially the southern part of the red line

Plenty of great neighborhoods in chicago

Most of the shootings are in two neighborhoods

Kansas is pretty darn boring. Boring to drive across, not much of anything to do (we did just get a dave and busters and a new ballpark woo hoo!), but it is generally a good place to raise a family. Although it is #5 on most moved from state on last year's study because it is so boring. And the weather is super random and no good scenery. I've lived here for almost 26 years of my life (moved here when I was almost 3) and I am ready to get out

If we eliminate political reasons, gotta be Florida. It we are including political reasons, California followed by Massachusetts (DC isn't a state or they would lead this list).
