I'm sure everyone on these boards who are also astute realize the Giants are a private baseball club. Thus, being a private club, the owner (who appears to also have issues) can invite whoever he wants to the reunion.

The Giants have absolutely no obligation to Aubrey Huff, regardless of what he tweets or does not tweet.
Just like fans can censure the Giants, and by extension, MLB.

It's all nonsense.

Nobody's perfect, including the Giants, who should not be acting like bullies.

2 to 1 YES.

Good to see some folks care more about protecting first amendment rights (even if you find his comments abhorrent) than politics.

Or maybe, if you’re throwing a party, you don’t invite him to it.

With the foregoing rant I made about my distaste as to counter culture...
Is there any doubt that this was a ploy by Aubrey Huff to get the Giants to react in a really predictable way?
My guess is that Aubrey Huff derives a lot more satisfaction of being defensed by Clay Travis on Twitter than going to some reunion.

Sure it is....because as long as he is associated with the team, it affects the image of the team.

That's not how society works.

Nobody forced him to vocalize his opinions to the world on twitter. That was his own undoing.

Yup. Freedom if speech is golden. The Giants also exercised their freedoms. The freedom to choose who they want to attend.

Exactly.

I could care less what vitriol Aubrey Huff spews on twitter, facebook, linked in,, etc. To be honest, I'd forgotten about him long ago.

He probably wouldn't have even gone to the reunion, but now that he's not invited..................those terrible judgemental Giants!!!

How do you know he wouldn’t have gone??? Like another poster pointed out he was at Bochy’s last game this past season.

I bet Huff was the one that didn't vote for Jeter.

And if the Giants fans want to stop going to games, buying Giants jerseys, gear, etc... that's their right.

Some of you keep harping on the fact that the organization can do this.
I don't believe that's the issue at hand.
Sure they can do it, but the debate is centered on should they do it?

Because I talked to him myself.

This is ridiculous. The Giants can invite or not invite whoever they want.

No, he *was* associated with the team but hasn’t been for years.

He’s not going to a grape-eating event hosted by the Giants. He’s supposed to be going to a team reunion.

No, that’s how SJWs work.

You’re advocating for a world without a legal expression of opinion.

I'm not advocating for anything.

I'm living in reality.

Have you been asleep for the last 7+ years? You can and will be terminated for anything risque you choose to publicize on a social media platform. You don't have to be a baseball player or prominent figure. Try it.

Do you even realize the irony in this? You do realize that's exactly what the Giants did right? They essentially decided they didn't want to hear Huff's stupidity, so they "turned off the TV" to use your analogy.

They haven't stopped you from following his stupidity on Twitter or laughing at his "jokes" about kidnapping women. If you enjoy that type of stuff, you have plenty of outlets to find it. If you don't, then you can go to a Giants game without having to worry about it.

Good point.

And if the fans are that outraged, they can boycott the Giants.

Was Huff terminated from Twitter? No, he wasn’t.

Would I be terminated if I wrote what Huff wrote? Nope.

Did Huff explicitly agree in his old employment contract with the Giants that he wouldn’t say something like he did? No, not likely.

It’s just nonsense and the Giants acting like bullies.

The irony is now they've given a bigger stage to what they are at the same time claiming to be against.

Would his tweets have even been news if not for the Giants actions? It's odd that they would want to resurrect and amplify those comments to this degree. Especially those that were previously deleted.

Giants acting within their rights as an organization, just as Aubrey Huff acting within his rights to spew garbage on twitter

fixed for you.

Don’t really care, but that’s cute that they are protecting their fragile season ticket holders.

They know they will be terrible for the next 5 years at least.

The warriors are coming to town and I’m sure some people would love to cry about Aubrey and cancel their tickets lol.

That’s what rich people love to do is make a point with what they spend their money on.

What if it was a conservatively based market team ? What would that team do ?

Que that terrible played out Journey song !
