Ok just checked ebay topps rc kobe psa 10 got $1425 and there is one on auction right now and it’s already up to $5k.

What is going on? This has to be fake.

It is a little weird that the Topps base RC is blowing away the Finest Bronze RC right now. I doubt anyone in the hobby could have predicted that in the 90's.

Something to consider is that there could be a lot of fake bids from people upset with Kobe sellers at the moment. Kind of like how the first Zion autographs went for like hundreds of thousands of dollars.

You guys jumping all over this dude when there are literally listings where you can buy the Topps Kobe RC PSA 10 for 2k and probsteins auction is at 5k and climbing. It's obviously fake and shilled and no one is going to pay it.

People are bidding as a "tribute" with no intention of actually ponying up the cash...

And everyone else is just price manipulating

I say that as someone sitting on $25,000 worth of Kobe's right now if the prices were real (which they aren't)

There are too many regular topps exist.
What I don’t understand bunch of raw sold for $100 or less today, why graded is selling for a lot more. There is one on auction psa 10 already up to $5k, and still 6 more days. Some chrome is going even less than that lol.

No judgement, but are you looking to sell any right now?

I think it's even more awful that some bidders would price manipulate the market than those sellers that just put up whatever rarer card of his they want to get rid of at a .99 auction start and let the market hopefully dictate correctly.

I have a couple listed for trade, for my super specific PC, but that's it

I haven't listed a single one for sale because I just have no interest in it. I don't need the money and I don't feel like dealing with fake bidders.

If I could actually get paid $1,500 for my Topps PSA 10? On Blowout for example where I know (theoretically) I'm going to actually get paid? I would absolutely sell it in a heartbeat

Present tragedy aside, I do think the base Topps card is highly underrated. Iconic brand, iconic photo, and the quality of his Topps Chrome cards will continue to decline in the future

I was bidding on a raw Topps RC last week...my max bid was $12 and the auction ended at $12.50. There aren't any available under $200 right now, but like others have said I don't think anyone is actually paying those crazy high prices for these. There must be hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of these Topps RCs floating around out there. Maybe I'll pick one up in a few weeks/months when prices come back to reality. Pretty sure I'll never see one sold for $12.50 again though...

Maybe because of aesthetics? Base topps card “looks better” since it doesn’t green like the chrome counterpart. Also centering is ridiculously tough on that release.

Another huge factor would be the lack sealed product; parallels the 2002 Topps Tom Brady card in many aspects.
