Default 1st PSA submission results

1st PSA submission results:

101 Bulk order: 69 10s and 32 9's - Not great I guess

Most of my Acuna US250 were 10s
A little over half of the Soto US300 were 10s - SP was a 10!
Most of the Torres US200 were 10s
Terrible on Factory 698 Acuna 1 out of 4
Same for Torres Factory 1 out of 2
Acuna and Soto Heritage 11 out of 13 were 10s
Torres action was a 10

Pretty good Racedog, hitting about 65% 10's.. Ya live, ya learn. Still not bad and you'll only get better identifying flaws

70% PSA 10's is pretty good, especially for paper cards, congrats!

I would think those would be exceptional results, especially if you aren't a pro and aren't trimming. Congratulations!

Huh? If every card were a 10 there would be very little market...you did quite well.

Yeah 2018 Update is a very condition sensitive release. I have found that the Soto's seem to be in better shape overall than Acuna and especially Gleyber. Out of the hundreds I've looked at, US200 is clearly the most beat up.

Obviously.

I went through all of my potentials with magnification and a strong light and only sent the best of the best. I was hoping that I would have had a better percentage. I am hoping that I will be able to learn something about why the 9s graded out that way once I receive these back.

The funny thing is....My Acuna cards looked better than the Soto cards (I had about 40 of each) and I was able to ascertain which Acuna ones would be the best ones to send quite easily. With the Soto cards, there were plenty that were immediate decisions not to send...some with blue dots and some with dimples. The rest looked great. I am guessing that the 9s were 9s due to being OC. 2018 Flagship was a little tough for me to determine centering.

I am a little surprised about the retail set Acuna cards not getting 10s as I thought they looked perfect.

Thanks!

I am hoping to do a better job in the future with the knowledge I gained with this submission. Alternatively, I wonder if I am better off submitting cards even if I am not 100% they will be a probable 10....say a great looking card that I may have a slight question about...that may still grade higher since grading is so subjective. Yes, my rate would be lower, but I might make up for it in a higher # of 10s...something for me to think about.

I am thinking about SGC for the future. I hope the resale starts to go up for their slabs soon as more people refrain from sending into the "Big 2".

I am still waiting on my high $$ cards to pop. I think it is taking a long time on those since I sent in the 2018 Topps NOW ROY gold bonus card with Acuna/Ohtani on it PR of ~42. PSA couldn't verify the card since no checklist shows it and Topps doesn't even have it on their website. I have submitted some more info to hopefully get it graded.

I am pretty sure the 10 rate will be lower since I sent in cards more for me then strict resale. I wanted them protected and also verified as original, etc. These will all be PC for the foreseeable future.

If that were a batting average you would be ROY and MVP!

Generally, cards out of the factory sets fare well in grading or are in better shape than pack pulled cards...but the Acuna and Torres cards were inserts/late additions...they were manually inserted after the the rest of the set had been printed, cut and collated together...so gem mints are not as easy for the 698 and 699 cards. Overall though, hitting nearly 70% is a great number for a first submission. On the 9s when you get them back, check the surfaces and also the corners on the backside.

Awesome results! I would be happy with that percentage but definitely understand your frustration. I have sent in cards that I swear will be 10’s and come back lower and others that I didn’t expect above an 8 and they ended up Gem. It truly is subjective.

Only way the resale goes up is if they capture more market share. Only way they capture more market share is if people start sending to them. But, some people won't send unless their market share goes up. It's like a hellish chicken-egg thing.
