Default Redemption will NOT be honored.

Has anyone seen this before? I got a 2017 Heritage Freddie Freeman auto. It’s been years and he has signed other Topps product. I sent an email and got this reply.


Thank you for contacting Topps Customer Service.

This card is not going to be completed. You would have to chose to substitute this card at this time. When you substitute your redemption, you will receive a substitute card or product of equal or greater current market value. Current market value is based on various factors, including eBay and Beckett pricing. Substitutes are selected randomly by Topps based on value and available inventory for the same sport or property. Substitute choices made by Topps are final.

Not sure why an auto of an active player would not get signed, especially given that he's signing for other Topps products.

It makes no sense to me. He’s signing other Topps heritage autos. I don’t want to get a dud of a sub either. Freeman’s a stud.

I ahve said this before & will continue to say this.

Contact the BBB ( BBB.ORG ). Also does not hurt to file a complaint with your state atty general. Also if a bunch of people in the same media market wanted to get together how about contacting your local news consumer reporter & shaming & embarrassing these companies!

As long as people take their BS they will continue to feed it to you!

I have not opened a pack in 6 YEARS! This after 30+ Years of collecting!

Worse part for those companies........I Dont Even Miss It!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Stress, No BS = the joke is on THEM!

Make trouble for them. Show them you wont take their
" Substitute choices made by Topps are final. " BULL!

They inserted a product & didnt deliver. Now they are in effect telling you & all other consumers to Kiss Their A$!

I know most cant do what I did & tell them to Permanently F OFF,
However dont take their crap lying down!

The answer of why Topps won't honor this card is due to laziness, and really not caring about the consumer. I would imagine it would take them additional effort to get Freeman to sign one old, no longer printed card than it would to send him new cards in bulk, in hopes that he signs them on time in the future. If not, they'll rinse and repeat, and some other guy just like you will get stuck playing the game of back and forth with Topps in the years to come.

Seems to me Topps could fix this with their binder full of "sticker autos".
Hard to believe they couldn't send him a bunch of blank stickers to sign so they can apply them when needed, especially if he is actively signing product.

Yup I've gotten this. I have a 2017 Bellinger High Tek Blue auto redemption. Even though he has signed some of these, I never got one. I emailed them to ask why and I got the same response saying that I have to sub it.

I 2nd this. I had a redemption that they said would not be filled. Filed a BBB, 2 weeks later they mailed the card to me.

I just sent an e-mail about my '17 Bellinger. We'll see what they say. I am prepped to e-mail and call the BBB as well as my state attorney general.

Sounds like this is the best way to go.

I waited several years for a Topps redemption. Customer service kept telling they were waiting on the card...I believed that until they offered the same card as a replacement option for another Blowout user.

The thing with Bellinger. I have quite a few of his outstanding.

For some reason the only one they say will not be made is the High Tek Blue. I have like 4 different ones which they won't replace and they say the cards are out for signing.

But the High Tek one is a done deal for some reason!?

I wrote this up a few years ago and posted it in a thread. I copied and pasted it below. This should hopefully help. Again, I wrote this several years ago so the process might have changed a little. My best advice I can give you is: do not take no for an answer and do not accept anything until you are completely satisfied. You need to stand your ground.

2.). Select "yes" for the first question and "business product and services" for the second question. The 3rd question answer yes or no.
3.). Click "next"
4.) Search for the "Topps Company Inc." Select New York for the state. Select the first result in the search results.
5.) Select the address of 1 Whitehall Street NY, NY 10004
6.) Click continue to leave the BBB page and be directed to the NY BBB page.
7.) Click "file complaint" with "I am looking to resolve a dispute with the business"
8.). Click "proceed to complaint form"
9.) Fill out all your personal information and click next,
10.) Fill out complaint form. Select "product issues"for the nature of the complaint. Also tell what you want the outcome to be in "the desired out come". Click next when finished.
11.) Continue to fill out the complaint form by going into more detail about the price of the card/replacement etc. Pretty self explanatory. Click next
12.). Review and submit your complaint.





The BBB will contact you via email with updates. Make sure you use a valid email so that you can get your responses. Good luck.

You should fight or you will probably get screwed like me. I had a redemption for a 2011 Matt Cain Crowd Pleasers autograph...they sent me some random Dodger card saying they can't make the card....only to see the Matt Cain card on ebay a few months later. I just bought the card since it was only Matt Cain but how sad for Topps. After that no more redemption's for me. Any that get pulled are sold.

I have that same redemption and they've told me for the last year I COULDN'T ask for another auto since he may still sign.. They're so FOS.. Whatevah Topps!

Just ridiculous that people have to wait this long for cards that might not even get made. I mean seriously..... why do we need a redemption for Freddie? Just make it and put it in the damn packs.

I shoulda been more aggressive when Upper Deck politely told me to go pound sand with a 2 month past expiration Derek Jeter auto /2. I'm just not the squeaky wheel type.

I think a lot of these either were sent out as replacements for others who had issues of redemptions not filled or laziness as others have said.
