Default Simple Question...Why is Patch Faking not as Hated as Trimming?

If you say Trimming is done to gain more money and is Fraudulent, then inst patch faking? Its done to improve the Value of a card, so wouldn't knowingly selling a fake patch card be the same degree of fraud as a trimmed card?

Just curious why everyone is out against Trimmers, but isnt throwing Darts at patch fakers.

Fraud in this industry should be fraud, it should vary from a money standpoint. Just because a Trim job is +$1000 and a patch is only +$20

Baseball is a bad place to ask, but look at Exquisites, NTs, The Cups. A 3 Color Patch is generally 2x a 1 color.

Or maybe you guys are looking into those as well on the higher end scale, and just not posting it.

Patch faking is hated, but patches are also stupid and faked straight from the manufacturer and production line.

Collectors always romanticized about owning high end vintage. Now that you can’t without second guessing every piece of cardboard in a slab, collectors are FURIOUS!!

Because very few people care about patches....and those that do are generally in the basketball forum.

Less prospecting and profit in patches so fewer people care.

Plus, most people already suspect patches...when they should already suspect slabs as well...or any other kind of card.

Patches are such a small part of the hobby that fake patches don't get much attention. Excluding Panini and Leaf stuff, there are really only a few high-end Topps products where patches are a focus at all and even then, most of those are low numbered. If people see a nice patch on an unnumbered card from Flagship, most people are smart enough to stay away. Trimming is a much bigger deal because it can apply to most of the top cards in the hobby and it's harder to spot likely trimmed cards.

Patch faking is old news. That was the scandal before trimming came to light. It’s still just as frowned upon, but not the current Mo of scammers. They can make more by trimming base rookies in bulk than by switching a patch on a Lebron RPA.

It is. I just think the trimming has overshadowed it. Also way higher amounts of $$$$ involved.

Big Diff taking a Jordan Jersey - a Jordan sick Patch

Compared to a Mantle PSA 3 - PSA 6
