Default Psa labels starting to warp/wrinkle inside of a small safe

I just noticed this tonight when I was showing my collection to some friends and noticed that a lot of the PSA labels were starting to warp. Is there anything that I can do to stop or reverse this? Is this common among PSA or graded cards inside of a safe?

Maybe it’s from moisture? Place silica packs in there? I have no clue but that is just a guess

Trim the labels until they’re perfect again.

This.....Are they older labels? I once received a grading order back from PSA a number of years ago and the labels from the brand new slabs were already starting to wrinkle.

By any chance is it a fireproof safe? I hear those are horrible for storing cards due to the moisture.

this.

DON'T store cards in any safe unless it was designed to store them. same with jewelry, watches, coins. High end safes like Brown, cost upwards of 20k but if you have 200k in collectibles its worth it. Any regular safe from a nationwide chain thats1,000-2,500 won't be ideal for anything other then guns and ammo

What about putting cards in a sandwich bag to help keep the moisture out? I've heard of doing this, and have kept the few that I have inside the bags in the safe the past number of years, and so far haven't noticed any moisture damage. Am I off track, or is this a thing to do?

I have two fireproof safes in my home. For additional protection against moisture I put small silica gel bags in there. You can buy them on Amazon

I have a bunch of older PSA labels that have warped throughout the years. Some in the safe and others that are out of the safe so I'm not sure if there is a correlation there (for me at least)

I would like to see any supporting documents you have, since I store mine in a fireproof safe

Does moisture affect things kept in bank vaults?

From a quick google search theres this, take it how you will.

The main purpose of a fireproof safe is to protect paper from getting burned but not from being destroyed in a fire. It does this by trying to keep the interior temperature of the safe below the burning point of paper (your toploaders and graded cards will be fused in a brick of plastic since the melting temp of that is considerably lower) by using insulation and increasing the humidity in the safe in event of a fire. Basically it'd be great for important documents that can tolerate being in a high humidity environment like a passport, but your cards will be destroyed to the point where they will have no value other than sentimental and or a lesson learned. You could get lucky though and have the plastic surrounding them totally fuse before the humidity gets them and have some nice artsy Salvador Dali clock style slabs.

Added note the majority of fireproof safes are specifically designed for only that and are usually 2 thin layers of metal stuffed with insulation that can easily be cut through in seconds negating any sort of security.

**EDIT**

Found a pic someone posted a while back of a coin that "survived" in a fireproof safe.

I'll get some silica packets and see if that might do any good

The silica packets provide cheap insurance for any type of moisture. They actively absorb surrounding moisture, keeping the interior nice and dry.

Some safes have a drill hole for a dehumidifier. They can be purchased pretty inexpensively and are good for larger gun safes.

Open the safe a few times per week for around 20 min. Keep the safe closed for too long and the moisture will turn to mildew and then you have a problem. By opening the safe periodically and keeping it open for a little while you can help dry it out.

I clean my safes 2x per year and replace the silica bags periodically. I've never had an issue and I live in Florida. It's a little humid here.
