Anyone else take advantage of Target's Black Friday Sale of the Hidden Fates Tins? I picked up about 10-15 at only $9.99 each! Great price IMO. I hit 2x other targets after rushing to the first but they were all out already.

I believe I ended up with 84 online and maybe a few more in-store.

So what are everyone's thoughts on this product long term?
Is it worth holding unopened tins? Does the Shiny Charizard hold value long term? |

I think it's going to hold. Even the Charizard secret rare from burning shadows is still north of $200 (despite being the same artwork as the more sought after shiny).
I see the shiny values holding pretty close to what Neo Destiny is currently ($300 for Charizard, $150 for Mewtwo, etc). Neo Destiny sealed booster packs go for around $200 each. Now Destiny released in 2002, so there's a lot of time there, and it's a smaller set (than hidden fates plus shiny vault), but I think Hidden Fates will easily be $10+ per pack in a year or two. Unless the popularity of the shiny vault pushes for more shiny releases in the next year or two, I feel Hidden Fates will stay strong. Just my 2 cents. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

Im still getting things delivered, so I'm not 100% sure on total numbers, but I think I'll be able to open a bit and still save 750-800 packs worth of sealed tins, ball collections, ultimate collections, pin collections, walmart boxes, and ETB's. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

It finally happened tonight!
Got bored so I went out to Walmart to grab stuff for my new dehydrator (I have a very small smoking (brisket, pork etc) side business, and I have been introduced to the Beef Jerky game. Went by the card aisle, and it was a fresh re-stock. I didn't tell anyone but back when Bowman draft came out, for S&G's I got a case of tins for $14 a tin, which was great at the time, but I'm pretty sure the Gyrados and Riachu tins were searched...simply based off results (My Gyrados tins didn't even have a single holo.....which is obviously a pack out error or searching error). That slowed me down on the Pokemon a bit, I had grabbed only 2 tins since. Well tonight I grabbed 2 tins out of this fresh restock, and second pack first tin.....BOOM. Shiny Charizard. Finally. I could have bought 10 for the all the ultimate boxes and tins I ripped, but good to finally pull one. I'm probably going to send it to Beckett with some draft stuff and keep it. On a side note, my Wal-Mart seems to have those mystery boxes you guys have been clamoring about a little. They stock 3-4 every week or so. I bought one the other day and hit 2 GX in the 5-6 packs they give you on old releases. What are you guys looking for in those that make them worth buying at the same price you pay for a tin of Fates?

The real “back story” I heard is that this is an extremely popular set with an extremely popular version of charizard in an even more desirable shiny format (of which only 3-4 cards exist) and the staggered release along with the great demand caused SV49 to go nuclear. I broke down and bought one off eBay. I have 55/94 of the SV this far.

I think I got lucky, it only took me about 10 tins to get a Charizard. Actually got it on my first tin while I was in Kansas visiting my wife's family for Christmas. I think I beat the odds for sure.

Probably opened 200 packs...that darn black lizard eludes me. Love the set though, working on picking up shinies!
