Default Stadium Club Member's Only

A few months ago I pulled a Shohei Ohtani 'Member's Only' card from a box of 2019 Topps Stadium Club. After selling it for like $17 on eBay, I later realized that it was a 'case hit', and only ~15 were likely printed. Needless to say, I was disappointed with my return.

I've since become pretty infatuated with Member's Only cards, picking up some from various sets that I remember as a kid. My favorite so far is the 1992 KGJ Member's Only, which I was able to grab on eBay for a couple bucks.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find much information on the set, specifically print runs/rarity. I'm also coming back to the hobby after ~15 years away, so Google and BO are my only friends when searching for information like this.

Can anyone provide or point me in the right direction of good information of 'Member's Only' cards from Topps Stadium Club? Are these always case hits? Have they produced Member's Only every year of Stadium Club?

Thanks ahead of time!

Baseballcardpedia and Cardboard Connection have some of the information you're looking for. Going from Baseballcardpedia, Members Only was a factory set like the current 582 Montgomery Club from 1991-1997, got discontinued in the 1998-2003 and 2008 sets, returned as 1/1s in 2014, and became a short printed/case hit parallel from 2015 on.

file the new "Members Only" cards under "rare, dont care" for the most part.

Sure you'll find some hard core collectors interested, but an unnumbered stamp on a base card leaves a lot to be desired

Yes... in my mind (as a stadium club fan) the only parallels that get broad love are:
-- image variation
-- rainbow foil #/25
-- chrome, refactor, gold minted, super

It's a different world. I remember when Stadium Club first hit the scene in the early 90s. It was so new, so super cool, so loved.

I personally like the Member’s Only, First Day and Photographers proof. As other mentioned, these are very niche. However, they do have a small following and one thing everyone seems to agree on is the low print run.

Well, I guess that also applies to this...

Dammit.

I don’t get why they can’t make the photographers proof cards different in some way... instead thy just put that little sliver stamp

My dad pulled that card several months ago. He put it in a sleeve because it was Alonso but he had ripped some retail from Wal-Mart before I visited. He immediately said he didn't hit a thing but that I could look through what he opened to double check. He had this and a Gold Wander Franco /50 from Bowman Platinum. I'd have thought he would have noticed the Gold Wander because of the serial numbering but yeah, this Alonso I could kinda understand. Particularly given the last box of Stadium Club he probably opened was early-90's when they had the Member's Choice cards that weren't SP'd at all.

All this is to say: I have no idea but agree with you that they should be doing something that distinguishes these types of cards.

Stadium Club has IMHO the best photos, hands down. I’m so tired of Bowman products recycling photos. Topps flagship is okay for some players but for consistently cool photos nothing beats SC

The original "members only" ran from 1991-97. There was a 50-card set from multiple sports, those are worth under $5 a set. There were full parallel sets from 1993-97, most with their insert sets also included. The 1993-95 are relatively common, the 1996-97 less so. In any case singles are from 25 cents to $10.

Similar to Heritage and their series of unnumbered stuff like flip stock, magenta, black. Not sure why Stadium Club isn't more popular. People complain about pictures of cards and such, well Stadium Club IMO has great looking cards.

Nailed on both accounts!

Stadium Club is my favorite set every year. If they had an update version, then they’d have a real winner.

These Heritage cards are rare, but do people care???

Default Members only... and Stadium club as a whole...

I love them, especially earlier sets. Their designs have always been top notch and ahead of the curve IMHO.

I just got this Kobe in today. Wish I knew the print run of these sets. Pretty sure in 96 it was limited to members and they had to pay $50 and pick a sport and then $15 or $20 for additional sports

I can't imagine Stadium Club has as high a print run as flagship. However, it's 2021 and everything is being way overprinted. As far as Member's Only, 1st Day Issues, and Photographer's Proofs, they are always very rare per player since 2014.

I can’t figure why Topps would stop using serial numbers for the 1st Day Issue parallels.

I don't remember 1st Days ever having serial #s - what years were you thinking of?
