Interesting that two of Trout's MVPs have been by the skin of his teeth. First vs. Betts and now Bregman.

He's been polarizing at MVP time

That’s one way to look at it. But then, he’s also narrowly lost a few times, and has finished 1st or 2nd in seven of last eight seasons, despite nearly missing 100 games over last three years.

He wasn't due anything.. guy is just recognized as the Mickey Mantle of this generation. All it takes for Trout or Mantle or T.Williams is 140 games to convey they RUIN everybody else

It is the writers' vote after-all... and what do they want more than anything? A story! And how do they get a story??? Controversial choice

If I were the writers, I'd make the same decision - this makes for the drama and readership they so desire

Honestly on both sides. The guys who chose Bregman can laugh at the jokers who sold out for Trout. And the guys who went for Trout can write about how they had to give it to him, as they felt "he deserves better" (amazing how many of those articles there are)
