Character Collectors! When is it safe to say you have it all?

Character Collectors! When is it safe to say you have it all?

So...I'm heavy into the card scene now, especially when it comes to the silver
surfer. Here is my question, when do you all think it will be safe to say, "I have them all or most comprehensive collection?"

Asking for a friend...

You're probably good on Silver Surfer as it compares to all other collections, so go nuts with that.
Having one of every card made of him, I'd hold off on claiming that. Best to keep looking.

Haha, no, but usually when we think we have them all, one we never knew about comes along...

I just can't see how you get most of the printing plates. I collect Deadpool, I have a ton, but a lot of printing plates are locked up ePacks. I've messaged people and no one even bothers to return my messages. If you have a trick to getting some of those off of people, I may be on my way to getting closer to getting a more complete collection.

Yeah. The plates are tough. As a character collector I’ve had to accept that I will not ever (maybe one day lol) have all the plates. I think a my master collection will only ever have at least ONE plate from each series my character was featured in.

It’s almost impossible to get all plates of a particular character. Some sets are easier than others for sure. And I think having atleast one rainbow is a must. But there are no rules to collecting, just lots of options .

Part of the challenge is that, of course, no one collector can claim the right the be THE main and/or only collector of that character. A noble quest and one I undertake as best as budget allows, but other folk collect the same character - much as that sometimes pains, it's how it is.

100% I agree. This is more of a desperate attempt to lure out any surfer cards than actually thinking I might have them all. Lol

When you have over 50% of the 1/1's and every main licensed domestic card you know you're the top collector. Sketch cards only count for bonus bragging rights unless it's something like the Sal Buscema, or Joe Jusko Surfer (which If i remember correctly you already own) since they're pretty much grail sketches. Good luck with the surfer chase. I'm still chasing 6 cards + plates from FUSM to finish all my Silk rainbows.

Wow you are so close to the FUSM set and thanks for the advice. I can’t wait to see some pics! Funny enough this is exactly what I was thinking in terms of character collecting. Someone having at least 51% of 1/1 is a big deal for sure. That’s is my goal. What I really want is at least one plate from every set and hopefully I can find the few left that I’m missing.

Need that gene surfer sketchagraph from Spider-Man next. Lol
