As a Brewers fan Kimbrel reminds me of Derrick Turnbow. Guy went from all-star to gas can overnight.

Our only hope would be Nationals and Brewers losing.
Brewers won tonight and Nationals leading 10-4 heading to the bottom of the 10th. Cubbies will be 3 back of Brewers with 7 games to go.... pretty much ending the Cubbies season. They still have a very very slim shot... but these 2 teams aren't gonna collapse in the final week. Perfect time to lose 5 str8. Go Cubs!! |

Very disappointing end to season. I'm one of the few Cubs and Brewers fans, growing up and living in WI - but always cheer for Cubs first. I tip my cap to the Brewers and what they have done, especially since Yelich went down, really a shame he got hurt. Not much else to say but the Cubs remain the least clutch "good" team in baseball. I thought end of last year collapse was bad, but this year takes the cake. Will be shocked if things change and Cubs make playoffs - I can't see them stringing along even 2 wins in a row right now. Kimbrel has given up like 9 or 10 home runs in 19 innings pitched or something - awful. Hoping for a better offseason, with a better direction for next year. But my goodness does the bullpen need work, and they have shown you can't just throw money at the problem w/ past their prime relievers. What a terrible week for Cubs fans though. Had everything still in front to accomplish including win the division. Cardinals remain a solid organization - they had lots of ups and downs, but came through when it counted.

Being at that game was like riding the worlds largest roller coaster.
I know the season isn’t over, but boy does it feel like it. I guess it’s time to get ready for some Michigan State basketball

Maddon is gone. Probably Girardi to take his place.

They are not looking for a 4-6 million dollar manager. That’s why it will be David Ross. Looks pretty obvious to me, and the national media.

I really hope they don't do this. They already have too much bad money in Heyward, Darvish, Chatwood, and Kimbrel. He's had a great 47 games but he's a career 7 WAR player. I hope he hits .335 next year as a Cub but there are too many years that show he is not that.
I don't know what it is about Cubs fans but they overrate guys like Castellanos and Schwarber while underappreciating guys like Bryant. My friends do this to me and I just find it very amusing. If you would rather keep Schwarber or Castellanos over Bryant then I don't know what to tell you other than that's a very bad baseball thought. One thing I noticed in this series is how much better of a framer Molina is behind the plate than Contreras. In regards to this season it's not a surprise to me. They've been basically a .500 team since May or June I think. Bad pitching and bad defense is a recipe for disaster. Also, the offense is still broken. When they were good in 2016 they had Fowler getting on base at a high .393 clip. They haven't replaced him since then. Not sure why Theo hasn't found one. The bullpen has been atrocious for a couple of years now. Maddon will take the blame but the entire roster has let him down and is responsible for his firing. The front office to me has been worse at fielding a good roster than Maddon has at coaching. Good luck to the next coach but he will definitely benefit from some changes to this current team. Hahahaha wow. Wow.
Safe to say no playoffs this year. It's over. Cards just wrecked us.

Can’t fault them today though. Yu was dealing and the way the BP was pitching I get it.

Maddon staying with Yu too long isn't a shock. He can't manage pitching to save his life.

The streak of late game misfortune continues! Fortuna has certainly spun us downward these last days!

So to play devils advocate...what would a trade for Bryant potentially look like?
What would you require/expect to see in a deal for a player of his talent and production level?

Why so much hate for Theo? He did what every Cubs fan wanted a GM to do for a long time. Bring this team a World Series title. He has added pieces that were supposed to help this team return to the World Series. Some of this blame has to be put on the coaches and players, not just Theo.

Like Theo is going to Boston. Per usually your ignorance stands out. I mean I’d be fine with Theo leaving, but he’s not going to Boston. He’s not even wanted in Boston lol.

Maddon needs to go. He is a great manager but I don't think he is the right manager for this team. With all the talent on this roster they should have more to show than what they have the past 3 seasons.
