This wasn't on Kimbrel at all. You NEVER go to a guy who just came off the DL the same exact day. No managers with a brain does it which shows you what Maddon doesn't have.

This isn’t on Joe he’s only playing the hand he’s been dealt.
Bad signings -trades-weak pen- depleted farm system It’s starts with THEO Darvish has 6 wins in 2 years ![]() Kimbrel ![]() Eloy- Cease- SOLER- Gleyber-Vogelbach Lot of talent has left the building Chap trade did get them WS win...... but 1 year rental think about those guys in the lineup or coming off the bench for a long term run where they had a legit shot year in year out Last edited by CoolG; 09-19-2019 at 11:25 PM. |

Only the Cubs manage to make Wacha look like Bob Gibson.

Soler is a DH and wouldn't be starting in the OF anyway You don't win the WS if you don't trade Gleybar Vogelbach is a heavier version of Adam Dunn Homer or K. |

Man, this damn team. Probably better to lose then get swept in the WC or first round.
It's all whatever. No way we beat LA or ATL or obviously the Cards. And probably half the AL teams would kill us too.

The team is just flat out not clutch when it counts. What a tough last few days to lose those close ones - had chances in both. Was just talking with another close friend who is also a Cubs fan and man we just cannot believe the team really peaked immediately when they won the World Series. Thought we would be enjoying many more seasons of success. Pretty sure we see alot of changes this offseason - I do not expect Maddon back, and the front office deserves plenty of heat. The bullpen is a huge letdown and good money thrown after underperforming players. Still a chance to make post season but this team does not even deserve a WC spot at this point.

It’s on THEO to fill the holes and the players i outlined have significant value on field or via trade I was making a valid point of the talent that has been moved in bad trades and signings ( YU-Kimbrel) THEO hasn’t had a good signing in years and it was pretty obvious the Kimbrel collapse started last year. Getting CASTELLANOS was more on Joe, he wanted him back in 2018. You can only play the hand you’ve been dealt as a manager. Theo is slightly over .500 since taking the GM job back in 2011. He has gutted the farm system and made some awful trades over the past 3-4 years. Maddon has had one losing season as a manager since 2007 ![]() Last edited by CoolG; 09-21-2019 at 09:44 PM. |

Back in 2015 the word was that team was built to win in 2017. They hit a year early. But like you said that was the peak.

Castellanos gets a 2B in virtually every game. Is he an incredible runner or does he have a knack for hitting it where there are no fielders (gaps, corners)?

He has a knack for Theo handing him a blank check!

Joe Maddon
Pitches to Yelich with a righty when he is HORRIBLE vs lefty pitching. Pitches a lefty to Ozuna, He does the opposite of what a good manager should do. |

I'm not shocked how bad Kimbrel is doing.
1) You can tell he's not 100% 2) He didn't get any ST and missed half a season just about. Shut him down before he gets worse (injury wise) Joe and Training Staff imo don't even care. You don't need to be a doctor to see he's not 100%. |

What series of gut punches. 3 one run losses to StL, two on late inning HRs off Kimbrel. Brutal.
Castellanos has been amazing and Kimbrel absolutely terrible. On balance, this is a rough way to end the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For you youngins, you are experiencing the '69 Cubs and the Bears Super Bowl dynasty all at once.

I mentioned previously in the RDIFF thread that the Cubs can't seem to win close games. This is getting old. The only silver lining to this is that it may keep the Brewers from winning the division.

The training staff has to go. Just this week:
Kimbrel obviously isn't right Allowing Baez to hit Rizzo coming back miracously (don't know what to think about how they handled that one) Russell went on concussion protocol and is back...but hasn't appeared yet (in several games in which Joe went way deep on the bench) Kintzler was magically out, then made available yesterday, then apparently unavailable today Plus the mismanagement of minor injuries from Bryant, Contreras, and Bote, and a big mismanagement of Descalso. And more rejuggling of the starting rotation than should be present (Hamels, Darvish). |
