Ive got a 6 hour layover in houston if anyone can recommend a hobby shop not too far from the airport. Much appreciated

Hmm. Nothing really *close* to either airport. If you have 6 hours though you should be fine. Houston Sports Connection is your best bet for basketball.
The old ballpark is another good shop but has limited basketball (also far south houston so if you are not hobby airport its probably out) |
