@Zion...lets try to be humble and handle like an adult ! If he takes this stand, everything will be possible.

I think the pendulum has swung wayyyy too far here.

We’re still talking about one of the most statistically dominant college basketball seasons in the past 20 years. Pair that with an outlier body type and athletic profile and you have an exceptional prospect. The only comparables were with all of thatAD and KD, but they had height+mobility vs Zion has strength+quickness.

Also don’t fool yourself into thinking he has low BBIQ. Low BBIQ doesn’t rack up assists and steals and play D like he does.

People are tired of the hype to the point of outright annoyance and are letting emotion impair judgement.

Shorter Blake Griffin with a worse jumper/a more athletic Julius Randle

Jimmer Fredette avg @30 per game in college...so what does that mean ?,,......,and I believe he was a good player that was railroaded out of the league.

I'm expecting something similar to Blake Griffin, injuries should be the only thing stopping him from being great

Maybe a Shannon Brown type of career. Hops but that's about it.

I honestly think he will be really good. Gotta remember that he will be the center of the offense--possibly early on, and there are guys there who can get him the ball. He's going to score and with style--which is important. Just because he looks like Randal and Randolph doesn't mean he will play like them.

Card wise, I do not think he will hold value the way people think, but not because the talent isn't there. NBA card value tends to boost up play-makers in the way NFL card values boost QB's. I don't think the offense will run THROUGH Zion in the way it runs through the other top NBA players. He doesn't have to play PG, but if he can somehow add a play-making component to his game, it will certainly benefit his values, but as of now, that will be a gap that people will notice as he starts putting his stat lines next to those who are hobby monsters. Right now, I just see a ceiling that is closer to Joel Embiid than LeBron.

I do wish him well and I hope he stays healthy. He could be really good for the league and the hobby--so I am pulling for positives.

His jumper bothers me a bit. He barely jumps, which is ironic given his leaping ability, and he sets his feet really close together. He’s probably gonna need to get more elevation and arc. I can see it getting contested a lot, and if not blocked at least altered. His mechanics are good, though, and he’s not a terrible shooter ala Simmons, so there is potential.

I think he's going to be an above-average NBA player that will make a few all-star games and fall off dramatically when he starts to lose his athleticism.

The comments brought up an interesting body type comp in Karl Malone.

I can see it. Massive bone structure. Very girthy, top heavy frames...but pure muscle.

Country strong.

The crazy thing is that Zion defies the traditional laws of sports physics. Nobody with his weight has had the explosion, quickness, or vertical ability..all combined with freakish strength. We've never seen it.

Long term I think he'd benefit from losing some of his muscle mass, staying away from vmax weight training, and going the yoga route with proper diet. A lot of bball players are heading in this direction, including Bron.

A poorman's Blake Griffin. I actually think Blake Griffin will have a more productive career when its said and done. Anything I pull of Zion's next season is getting sold ASAP.

I have read very few posts here, but yours around draft time are some of the best year after year after year.

That doesn't mean I'll buy a single Zion card. I might not. He's going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive. But I still appreciate your perspective. Thank you.

Well we are only about 45 days to go till NBA training camp/hopefully judgment day!!!
All the pomp and circumstance, all the zion-a-thons, all the people on these threads still trying to pump his cards up and the many stealth dealers on here promoting his stuff saying, "there gonna be so expensive, prizm boxes are going to be through the roof on pre-sale etc. " It's all going to come to a screeching halt...all you Zion Kool-Aid enthusiasts hopes and dreams are about to be shattered.
That day can't arrive too soon when he will be exposed for the bust he is soon to become (that's if the pelicans let him play in the preseason).

Zion Williamson = John 'Hot Plate" Williams
Zion Williamson = Jamarcus Russell
Zion Williamson = Greg Oden
Zion Williamson = Anthony Bennett
Zion Williamson = Robert "Tractor"Traylor
minus the death of course, my goodness if Zion were to die on the court when playing, he would probably be made into a folk hero of some sort and all his cards would go through the roof.
Zion Williamson = Glen "Big Baby" Davis
Zion Williamson = Sam Bowie
We'll see what kind of shape he's in come judgment day/training camp.

Right. Randle looks to be headed that way. I just don’t see 25-26 and 12 from during his peak. I could be very wrong.

I think his celling is Larry Johnson. But mostly he might end up 300+ weight and injury bothering player. He will be out of league within 10 years
