my goodness, what's wrong with you? i'm asking a simple question, not looking to argue or anything. you think he's overhyped? was just curious why. I think his BC prices are, but don't know really much about him as a player, other than the hype train and who his dad is.

but sheesh....i've been getting a lot of crap lately from some people here for just asking a question.

Some people get bent out of shape, waaaay to easily, when it comes to their cards.

They just need to be trimmed a bit, then they’ll be in great shape

I guess I read your post wrong. Thinking his prices were insane would indicate to me you have some idea of how his performance doesn't match his prices.

I've stated he's massively overhyped in this thread numerous times even before his call up. I poke fun at his weight, but in all seriousness it plays a part in his future outlook. He's never going to be a 5 tool player in the mold of Trout or Acuna. He's a big boi just like Prince Fielder who has a massive bat and will most likely end up a 1st basement or designated hitter in a few years. That's why I think his prices are nonsensical.

And the great majority of his pricing premium is because his last name and lineage. If Griffey Jr. ever had a son that wound up the 1st overall pick, you better believe the prices would be off the charts and far more than other comparable rookies before he even steps on an MLB field.

now that's more along the lines of the kind of dialogue i was looking for, that was actually very insightful, i enjoyed reading that.

i like Vlad Jr., i just think his prices for BC are insane. $1K for a guy who at the time, have never played a pro game, and now he's hitting .250, and i think it might have some people nervous a little bit.

i also think it ties into the craziness of the minor league players compared to established guys right now. think about it...Wander Franco and Jo Adell right now are selling at/or near Aaron Judge BC rookie prices.

those two outsell BC rookie autographs of Kris Bryant and Bryce Harper, combined! and that's crazy. Yesterday, a Harper BC Refractor auto went for $455. That's a card that was over $1,000 three years ago, and Harper isn't even 30 years old yet.

You certainly aren't alone. The entire prospecting game has become insane, and now it's quickly trickling into the other sports.

I was also floored to find out what Harper's Chrome autos have recently gone for.

I was selling his base gem autos for 1250 each not more than 2 years ago. Each spring training it seems like the hype and hope around him would build up and create new record highs. Looks like the floor finally came out and people have moved on. This is a guy who has an mvp under his belt and still on pace to put up very impressive cumulative stats by the time he's 30.

I personally haven't been prospecting much lately because of this wild prices, but I do understand there's a formula to the madness and many people do well. But paying 4 digits for a base auto of a player that's never played a major league game....not my cup of tea.

Ok but Bowman Chrome Prices have appreciated as the hobby has appreciated. There's more money in the hobby for highend stuff. If Guerrero starts hitting like he did in Double A and Triple A last year in the majors consistently. He also has a friendly fun loving attitude that is attractive to the sport during interviews and what not. I'm not giving up on him. Very few players hit to there potential this early. These guys coming up at 20 and hitting 20 homers and .300 don't always last. You don't know who will be great but Guerrero has a chance. By the way you shouldn't have bought Guerrero Bowman Chromes in Spring training this year you should have bought them in 2016 or 2017. If you didn't buy somebody else.

I sold all my Vlads in March for insane money and bought a ton of guys to diversify. That list included Yordan, Devers, Alonso and Trout. When a market is outrageously illogical, you should always sell. Vlad May become a great major leaguer. He could even become a perennial all star. But my question all along with prospects is: what do they need to do to justify current prices? If the answer to that question is put up all time great numbers, you have to sell.

I honestly see no recovery for those in deep, hence much of the anger. I still have some Mega's of Vladdy, just gonna get what I can for them and call it a day, my money was made last year and more than covered costs on the sell of one card.

Glad his RCs are starting to come out.
Sad they are inflated in price

Wow - amazing prediction on who to select... those guys have done really well... well except for that Trout guy, he’s only a little better than before - wish he would really up his game

Harper BC auto just closed at $305....

i lost two Harpers, the BC and the Refractor autograph rookies for a total of under $800

Don't look now, Vlad 9 for his last 18! I think Charlie has to stick him back at 2 soon and just leave him there! He's taking the up and in FB and down and out BB that he was swinging wildly at just a few weeks back.

Here...we...go...

Very nice to see. One thing I'm liking is that even though it seems like K's alot, he actually doesn't. Down to less than 20% of AB's.

Anyone holding Vlad longer term is going to be fine.

Those who sold around the callup made max dollars for now. Those who are still holding are fine as long as they weren't buying at callup.

Either way, anyone still holding should hold from a card value standpoint.

Here is a kid who is 20, on an up and coming team, who has had a slow start.

In his last 5 games he is 9-18 with 4 R 1 2B 1 HR 5 RBI 2 BB 2Ks. When he gets it and matures he will have regular streaks like this and added power. So in sum, if you don't wanna hold for a year or 2, sell now. If you don't mind following the kid and have patience, IMO you will be rewarded.
